personally i think a 2-4 man group before dropping should have the option of dropping in the PUG queue OR the group queue. Why? because the time i play in the morning only one of my friends is on. playing duo with a buddie is horrifying if you drop in the group queue. we have comms, doesn't help unless the team that is playing suddenly gives us all their info, what system they're using. (vent/skype/Gamevox/teamspeak) so for 2 or 3 to drop in that queue is a kin to disadvantaging one side. I know it is done to make the group system more achieveable. but that shouldn't be being done until they have in game comms. then it won't matter. get a headset and play smart or get stomped. Am i being too liogical PGI? cause i seriously think you need a good strong dose of LOGIC. wonder if it's logical to take 2 soldiers from this unit and put them in a unit that's short 2 even though they don't even know each other names...........I mean mathematically it's logical. But not if you expect the best skills. those 2 guys are cannon fodder and that is niether fair to the 2 man, the group they got dropped with, or the group facing them. cannon fodder.....we've all been there and I know that NO ONE likes watching a match for 10 min. The group they're with is now down up to 200 tonnes of firepower and with clans out.......that's a tide shifter possibly. the group facing them now gets a simple rofl stomp. And yes we all love being on this side but you know as well as i do after 10 matches and no one can beat you............yawn.......new game.....one more challenging. that being said. I think it's pretty illogical and just counter productive of getting the best skills and games out of this game if they continue to do this. Just Sayin'

This is precisely why groups should be 5+ and solo should be groups of 4 (1 per team) and pugs.

I've been getting rolled more when I'm in a four man then I do on my own, doesn't mean you're fighting a premade.

it's no different than when solo players used to use the whole "it's a premade, that's why we lost" argument. It wasn't valid then and it's not valid now.
Would you believe the "Nice premade" excuse is still being dropped in the solo queue after stomps?
People also like to throw around "Nice 12 man" in group drops. I hate to disappoint em when I tell em they were only facing a 6 man or 8 man group.
to the OP:
The new group queue is not the same as the old 4-man drops. It will additionally be difficult if your ELO had been artificially inflated from running a lot of 4-mans in the old PuG queue.
The main difference between then and now? Preparation
Prior, you could get away with everyone just choosing a mech they want to have fun in and y'all have a good chance for a win.
Now a days, you have to consider how your group will affect the battlefield. If your 4 man is dropping with 2 heavies and 2 assaults, you're going to be relied on to be the team's anvil.
Dropping in a bunch of lights and mediums? better be prepared to scout and run anti-light duty for the Dire Whales.
Is the 8 man group going in a direction you normally won't? Better chase after em whether you want to or not cause the enemy most likely won't be splitting up.

I would like to drop more as a group. I used to do so a lot, back home in Canada.
On the other hand, with my current Tokyo Time zone, the public teamspeak servers are all but dead when I'm normally available, and just seem to be on the decline in general.
I don't want to join a unit, because I don't want to be tied down with the responsibility of showing up for specific times or days for clan matches, being beached out at for not taking the opti-meta mechs and builds, or being expected to be MLG material Captain Twitch-Click Triple-Headshot 420 Monster Energy Doritos.
I'd love for that VoIP and CW to finally show up so that I can pop in, play with a team whenever-the-hell, have the match serve some purpose besides getting more C-bills to unlock more mechs, and not have to have the cheesiest builds that make The Bounty Hunter look like he rides a Hermes II.
