Built A New Comp, Now I Suddenly Have Better Aim

Even those shots that look like hits end up being not.
Well last week i finally got my new system running, (my old, duo-core 8400, 4 gigs ram, + 550-TI)
New system, I5 quad core, 3.10 ghrz, 8 gigs ram, and the same vid card, the TI-550
My frames are over doubled.. on most maps i was running min graphics, and getting barely 20 FPS,, now i am at medium, and maintain 45-50 95% of the time. Lights and fast mechs are so much easier to hit.. My damage rates have gone up, to I'd say an average or at least +100 a game.. and i am killing those pesky lights a lot easier, even without streaks and using the leg sweep, to get a tiny amount of damage.
So for all those people that think the game is just to hard. check out your comp specs, and perhaps you can build a new system, or get an upgrade, because let me tell you, i am really blown away to how much better i am doing.
For the record, i am far from an Ace pilot, or a competitive guy, but the new upgrade, really has let me enjoy the game a lot more.. Now at least i am at the point that, i can say if my aim is truly off, or it was cause my comp was 3 frames later and i am hitting air, verse what i thought was where the mech was.. (different than ping hit registration, as that is net lag server side, verse Graphic lag client side)
It is like a whole new game... And who knew... Caustic had rising smoke from the ground, Ill tell ya, it does not look like healthy smoke either..

You can turn off the smoke? That might actually be broken, I always use night vision for that.

Common knowledge to any competitive gamer, suggested peripherals have always been:
• PC that can exceed 60 frames per second (Ideal would be 120 frames per second, but 60 frames per second is sufficient. Anything sub/less than 30 frames is not ideal and will hinder your gameplay!)
• 120 Hz or higher PC monitor (i.e. BenQ XL2420Z, ASUS VG248QE)
• High Quality Gaming Mouse (i.e. Razer DeathAdder, Zowie EC1)
• High Quality Mouse Mat (i.e. Steelseries QcK+, PureTrak Talent)
• High Quality Headset (i.e. Seinheiser PC360, Audiotechnica ATH-AD700, or "gaming version" i.e. Steelseries Siberia V2)
• High Quality Sound Card(i.e. Asus Xonar STX Essence)
• Mechanical Keyboard(i.e. Filco Majestouch, Coolermaster QuickFire, Steelseries 7g

Then 12 mans came out and my fps was dropping really low. Fiddled with the graphics settings, drop it to lowest resolution and lowest graphics settings and starter getting 40 - 50fps out of combat. It was like I took off the training wheels. Average damage and c-bill earnings exploded.

Gotta stick with my gaming desktop which gets 60+ FPS (except on Frozen City when I back up into my own heat cloud and FPS goes to 20.... they gotta fix that crap its been a problem since beta!)

In my case, didn't really know any better. Hadn't played a FPS in ten years, had no feeling of what it should be like. <shrug> I still got hooked.

My last rig was an Athlon II 64 w/16 gig Ram. I didn't even try running MWO until I upgraded last year. That's why I was late to the MWO party.
Now I have a rig comparable to yours:
i5 2320 processor
8 GB ram
GTX650ti 1 GB video card
I'm sure it makes a world of difference going from your old Duo Core to an i5. Congratulations!

No, well yes.. If you play at the lowest resolutions, there is no snow on snow city day? and no smoke on caustic.... haven't played all the maps because of the randomness,, Don't think i have been on Space map, and river city day.. maybe something else.. But yea,, big difference in graphics.. Makes me want to just set um all to highest and hit testing just to look around.

I should give this a try.. I have been using my cheap old Logitec optical for gaming for like ohh 8+ years.. (upgraded from the logical ball mouse,, because the darn things always wore out on me...) I do notice the optical does have a bit of lag in it.. Perhaps i should by a gaming mouse, and just use it for this game.. then swap to my optical for all other things to keep it fresh..
thanks for the tip!
I do plan on upgrading my vid card eventually.. Maybe this winter, getting one of the newer TI cards will be worth while.. Not sure at this point though

Yea, poor FPS has definitely hindered my performance. I'm on the verge of replacing my computer, but I presently have to make resolution and effects sacrifices to maintain a playable FPS. It doesn't make the game look great but at least it's playable. I can't deal with 20 or less FPS at 1920 x 1080. I would rather get 40-60 on a lower resolution and all low graphics settings. Yea, you will lose some scope of your vision and there are definitely some serious "ghost terrain" issues on places like Tourmaline, but at least it doesn't seem like you're looking at a flip-book.
I can get 50-60 FPS most of the time on places like HPG, Canyon, and Alpine, but on places with heavier weather and particle effects such as Frozen City. River City, etc, it can get pretty low. And it actually shows in the stats too! My W/L tends to be better on places where I get smoother gameplay. It sucks though, getting half the FPS you normally get on another map.
I plan on getting a new computer soon, though I probably won't replace my monitor, which is a 60 Hz monitor. So getting above 60 FPS for me won't really do anything. If you're a casual gamer like me you probably won't need more than a steady 60 FPS. However, if you are playing on 30 FPS or less, upping that FPS in any way possible will benefit you a lot more than other smaller things like a nice mouse, macros, and other things that are used to get a competitive edge at already high levels.
