It's Not The Players Fault That No One Wants To Use Light/medium Mechs

I find that....insufficient. My last match I scored 533 damage in the nova, it's not a matter of ability. I know how to play a medium, I came in top 50 the last two medium v/s the world.
Lets review my actual arguments:
Playing a light/medium means you will have no margin for error. One lapse and you're down.
The current heavy/assault clan mechs can remove your limbs at will.
If you're a medium/light pilot with any kind of elo, you're going to have to work twice as hard to help your team.
All these things are why on any give night, light/medium mechs don't break 20% of total mechs, and why should they?
SO PLEASE, answer these points, if you say LTP Noob, I'll take that as "I'm not reading any of this, I'm just randomly typing as the random neural firings in my head dictate, please disregard any actual words that make it off my keyboard."
So let me take a stab at this argument from the Direwolf pilot's POV.
Playing a light/medium means you will have no margin for error. One lapse and you're down.
A Direwolf can carry just over 50 tons worth of weapons. Anything that makes a significant error will pay. Many mechs of all types who have ignored me in my Direwolf have paid dearly for it. The only difference is that a light/medium dies faster from less armor.
The current heavy/assault clan mechs can remove your limbs at will.
Again, heavies/assault (especially clan) mechs carry more weapons, which means more DPS which means your weaker armor and parts get blown up faster. Nothing new here in the mechanic. Only difference is clan assaults have lightly more weapons. Rule of thumb, the lighter the IS mech is the faster it can move & will move. It is only logical I will try to blow off legs to slow it down.
If you're a medium/light pilot with any kind of elo, you're going to have to work twice as hard to help your team.
Tried piloting a Direwolf in a brawl? It handles like a beached whale, and is easily out maneuvered. Adjust your piloting to the abilities of the mech and your target. I sure as hell don't pilot my Direwolf the same against a hunchback as I do against an Atlas or stalker.
All these things are why on any give night, light/medium mechs don't break 20% of total mechs, and why should they?
Is it possible that many people are playing Clan heavies and assaults because of their popularity (specifically Direwolves and Timberwolves) and trying to level them which is why there is a low % of lights/mediums? I have seen nights where assaults are 15% of the population. It varies depending on who is on and what they are playing.
I know how to play a medium, I came in top 50 the last two medium v/s the world.
That is no longer a valid argument. That was all before Clan mechs arrived on the field. The game mechanics have changed, falling has significant penalties if not cushioned. Some weapons have had dmg adjusted. (specifically SRM's for example).
Have you considered the fact that the way you pilot your medium mechs is no longer as effective as it was before?
***As and added note:
Often when I die it is to a light or medium as they can move faster and stay behind me where i can't squish them.

There will never be a point to having mediums and lights so long as the game is simply TDM....
Which is why this game woulda been better as the 4man coop PVE it was originally intended to be.
Take Crimsonstrait...we spawn 4 mechs out on that island, objective is to simply sweep the enemy from the area. As you walk out into the water, the upper decks of the garage thing are lined with like 4 LRM15 batteries that commence to barrage you. Under the bridge is a pair of lights doing the sighting for the guns. Hidden in the city on the right along that peninsula is Hunchbacks, shutdown and other various CQC loaded mechs, along with spread out, random AC10 turrets. Capturing or destroying the Mobile gen is helpful, prolly best done with a light mech, that is able to quickly get to it.
I wish this game woulda been more like MW3, 4, Mechcommander...simply made into Coop...THAT woulda been SOOOOOOO much more fun. Then add in the MW3 salvage system, where evne armor needs to be gotten.
Clans coulda been a true invasion, where suddenly there are random battles where your 4 man group is trying to stop a clan invasion force. Legging and potentially salvaging them is awesome...and THAT is how you got your clan mechs. Or maybe if it was to be P2P clans, make it so that paying 30 bucks gets you access to the dropships headed to stop the invasion. You get to salvage mechs and that is how you get your clan mech. You gotta keep killing clanners and stock piling loot to keep it going.

Sure, I'd like to see more role-based gameplay, and rewards, for Lights and Mediums.
However, there's no reason to deny yourself the fun of playing them. Earning Cbills isn't a job. You don't support your family with them. So there's no point getting hung up about whether a Dire Wolf earns more of them, or survives in games long.
Just have fun piloting, and take some pride in demonstrating your versatility and skills across all classes.
My favourite victories are the ones where I've scored 1000+ damage or 6 kills in a non-meta chassis. Any idiot can do well in a jump-sniping Victor or Phract.

With changes to the game (i.e. Clan mech implemetation, constant nerfs to weapons and chassis, the upcoming JJ heat and thrust nerf's) If you are still playing like you were from the start that is more then likely your problem. Plain and simple....

You were shot by a bunch of damage and you were properly crippled. Its a Dire Wolf. It is known as the Little Death in House Kurita. It Should in fact be very deadly to most Mechs.
And you should only get One Mistake facing a Dire Wolf. One.

Try this buld (Prime):
2x SSRM4
3x SSRM6
1x ERLL
1x BAP
If I survive, I usually finish the match with 700-1000 damage and at least a kill.
Fast in, unload and fast out. If you find a lone mech, slaughter it with chain fired SSRMs.
