Am I the only one who finds it annoying that the cloud of smoke that keeps coming from around your mechs feet makes the tonnage, heat management and firepower practically unreadable for a few seconds every few seconds?

It's a small issue, but the smoke needs to go elsewhere or the number colour needs adjusting to make it readable the whole time. Why not smog up the numbers that don't change?

or you know make the important stat sections not so transparent.

Legibility is not exactly PGI's strong suit.

Seriously, anyone else remember the EPIC STRUGGLES they've had with the chat bar alone? It was like The Odyssey, The Lord of The RIngs (all 3 books, plus The Hobbit, plus related works like the Silmarillion) and War and Peace all strung together.

At one point the text was utterly unreadable on snow maps (at least, public chat was). Then there was the stretch where we couldn't use backspace... then they made the text box transparent so that sometimes you'd have to use control + moving the mouse to a corner so that the text would be over your cockpit and you could read what was being said clearly)....

Good lord...

For a game designed to appeal to a (largely) aging demographic, they sure like straining the eyes of the userbase...

Oh, and most recently there is the whole BRIGHT NEON TEAL BACKGROUND for all Dev posts.

Seriously, does that hurt anyone else's eyes?

yeah they need to fix that... If they looked at it on their monitors and think it's fine they need to try it out on some other settings that real world users use... cause it is anything but fine... I shouldn't have to wait for the smoke to move to read those stats...

I have more of a problem with the fact that it creates a sort of "flicker" right by the friends/group alerter at the bottom right side of my screen and it makes me think someone is pinging me. Very annoying.

Yes, I have this issue as well. I just discovered this week that you can work around it by turning your mech a bit so that the foot of your mech is behind the font so you can see it.

I have been meaning to make a thread on this for a long time.

(I wanted to make it yellow on white, like in the game, but the highlight tag isn't enabled here)

EDIT: apparently neither is color

The crappy UI 2.0 Interface has pretty much killed me playing this game.... the old days of having fun and swapping out mech parts in the old UI and now I have to do extra clicking,,, wait times.. unreadable font sizes or colors or horrible placement of mech parts and convoluted system makes me NOT want to play the game...

That and for some reason my Game now has Blurr permanently stuck on whenever I get hit by missiles or fire so my computer frame rates basically make me get 10 frames a second,ect...

I used to get 60 frames per second back in Jan 2013..... now a year and half later all the crap PGI put into the game make it unbearable to play

Have you tried adjusting your settings at all to compensate?

Turning Terrain Detail (Terrain Textures?) down to Medium or Low will see a massive boost in performance.

Messing with the User.cfg also helps.

Specifically:

cl_fov = 86
gp_option_ShowCockpitGlass = 0
r_DepthOfField = 0
r_HDRGrainAmount = 0.0
sys_MaxFPS = 60

(Or even 30-45 if it's still bad)

....... oooh yes i have that smoke problem too and it sucks!

Ive got a question about smurfys in this case.... when i build my mechs at smurfys and take a look at the heat dissipation it says like 40%... now i build my mechs ingame and there it tells me like 1.2 heat... shouldnt it showed something around 1.4?

I just dont know how these differences works.

Smurfy and the mechlab calculate heat efficiency quite differently.

MWO's mechlab uses a scale of 0 to 2.
If Smufy's percentage was a direct equivalent (0-200% from memory), then 40% would be 0.4.

Though ultimately, the heat efficiency rating is a load of crap imo.
