I have my 9B setup with 2x ac2, 1x uac5, and an erppc on the opposing arm.. but it just sits unused right now honestly.
When I first bought it I tried 2x uac5 and couple large lasers or ppc. Not thrilled with how that worked. Maybe an ac20/ 2x ppc build. Hate to not use the 3 ballistic points but there really is no strong build for it and exposing yourself in any way to try to use all that dakka is asking to be wrecked at this point.

What engine did you run? I am thinking of sticking with the XL360 I currently run, 2x JJ, 5 tons of ac20, 14DHS, etc.

If you're poptarting, then it doesn't matter that you have to expose your whole torso compared to the DS. The DS is going to do that for the same amount of time, too while taking jump shots.
The problem is after you've fired, you don't have a dead side to twist towards your target. So you either have to spread damage equally, and run the risk of losing both arms in sequence. Or you have to sacrifice half your loadout. You also don't have the ability to reduce armor on the left arm to take another heat sink, jump jet, or ammo. Finally, the convergence is worse.

That was right before the AC range reduction. That build is a lot more difficult to use now.
The 9B is probably better as a brawler.

There's always going to be a second or second and half where you face the target. During that second, the DS has an option to leave half of its mass covered whereas a 9B/9S will not unless I'm content with just dealing 20 points. And yes the lack of a shield side is another negative that I didn't mention.
I'm also wondering about Itheseus's build. I have a 325 XL on mine right now but that gives me room to put in an SRM6 which I may just get rid of.

Also tried an AC20 w/5t, 2 LL, SRM4 w/1t, 2 JJ, and then all the remaining in dhs. Was decent as well for me.
I miss the pre-nerf victors turn and twist speeds.
