I have purchased two mechs, but i'm unable to modify them or even find them in my bays. My mechlab has none of the options that the ones in the tutorials do. Can somebody tell we what is wrong?

Are you sure you bought those two mechs? They are not a trial mechs?

Are you sure you are in the correct tab? You have HOME tab and MECHLAB tab. You have to be in that last one and press configure on the mech you want.
If you are on the Home tab and then you select "select mech" on the left side of the screens the game only let you change modules and consumables.

Also, are you under the correct tab inside your mechlab?
When you are inside your mechlab (not select mech), make sure you have "all mechs" selected. You should see all the current trial mechs as options, as well as any mechs you own.

With the recent changes in the UI, "SELCET MECH" only allows you to choose mechs with a valid loadout (meaning at least one weapon and an engine) if you want to actually change a mechs configuration you much select MECH LAB at the top and then find the mech you want, hit the blue CONFIGURE bar under the mech and there ya go!

I should note and this seems to be forgotten.. The website's tutorials have yet to be updated.
They show this mechlab.
Where we now have this (with some slight changes).
Anyway...
If you see the word "Buy" you do not own the mech you see.
If you see the word "Configure", then you should be able to modify the mech.
Note at the top the word "Mechlab." Please use that. Then choose your mech.
If you just started to play you should play 25 matches to get the in-game funds to get a mech of your own; there are 12 trial mechs. Please give them a try.

Thanks guys. If I may say, the previous UI seemed way more user friendly. The current one is confusing for new players, but i've gotten the hang of it.

The old one was confusing as well, just confusing in different ways.

I agree. Each had their downfalls. The main issue with the original is everything was hard-coded (a very foolish thing to do as it means PGI can't expand or change things without breaking everything). That was the main reason for changing the UI. This new one allows them to change things in the background with little effort and for the most part not break anything within reason.
There are many things available now that weren't before (such as inventory access), but yes it became a bit more confusing and somewhat further unintuitive in the process.
(Many things became easier, but the mechlab did become quite a bit more difficult to work with. Still, to be able to edit everything all at once instead of shifting back and forth and have to uninstall upgrades you just installed because your idea didn't work out... that's a Cbill saver right there. I used to spend a million or two uninstalling and installing upgrades trying to make ideas work.)
