I watch all my teammates get wiped out, and I then just give up the fight.
will properly stick around to see how this game plays out, but other than that I really don't no what to do.

I played a match where we were down 4 just now, and was down to 2 Medium Lasers and we ended up winning. So I hate quitting.
But if you are looking for help, first are you solo or grouped? And then give us an idea of what you are piloting. Load outs are important.

Have to win sometimes, otherwise you are going to move on. It's just human nature. It's why LeBron James left Cleveland.
Not saying you have to win EVERY game, but it's disheartening to be on a long losing streak.
But self-evaluation is important, because you are the only thing that is a constant in every one of those losses.
Are you trying to take charge in chat? Are you staying with the group or soloing? Lots of variables.

All that really needs to change at this point for the solo queue is to place new player's Elo at the low end not the middle. Give them some time(more importantly c-bills) to climb up the ranks.
Also instead of watching your team mates die there are many other more useful things you could be doing with that time.

Well like I said, ask for help. Or like Cico said, find a unit. Units are a great place to learn.
But don't just give up, there is A LOT to this game. If you aren't doing well, it might just be something simple like your tactics or load out.

Totally appreciate that in PUG matches, but sometimes you need to just keep on it. They do listen at times. And if it comes down to it, follow the biggest group.
But maybe you need a unit, so you can see what organized play looks like.

Bad luck streaks happen to everyone, it sounds like that's probably what you've been getting. And with lowered morale, it snowballs...
Well, the first thing is, crap happens. Accept it.
Then, what can you do to turn this around? Look at what you are doing. What mechs are you using, what loadouts are you taking. Do your tactics work well with them? Are they good in a PuG match? How well do they hold up against Clan mechs? And what about IS mechs?
The best road to self-improvement is analyzing what you are doing wrong and working to correct that. Ingrained bad habits need stamping out. Impatience needs temperance. Tactical awareness needs expansion. Etc.
The reward for this?
Winning. Feeling like you're carrying the team, no matter how sucky it is. It's a great feeling, even when you lose the match, knowing that you tore your opponents a LOT of new holes.
And whether your idea of fun is winning or not, it's always a lot more fun to be giving at least as much as you're getting.
If you need specific advice, though, you'll have to tell us more about how you play.
Have fun, mechwarrior.

One thing that has helped me, especially in pug matches, is to just realize I cannot control random people on the internet. I do not let myself get stressed when my team makes dumb decisions, I just try and do my best to turn their dumb maneuvers into good ones by supporting as best I can, or exploiting the distraction their failure provides.
If you fret over everyone elses actions you are just going to burn yourself out and quit.

The game isnt beating you. You are beating you. Improvise, adapt, overcome.
