Was discussing this the other day while playing...

Remove night/heat vision from clan mechs and replace with a single EI vision, would work like a combined version...

Balance by making it slightly worse night vision at night but usable in the day, only "illuminates" (like current heat vision) the currently targeted enemy mech....all other mechs would show up like our current night vision....

...the selected targeted enemy would then change color as it was damaged....you trade a better night vision and heat vision for improved heads up damage display overlay...(what EI boiled down too in mw2)

The TV show was definitely NOT canon btw

Actually it IS canon...

As a badly done holodrama aired over the holonet.

Crap! I just read that in one of the old manuals. The show is mentioned in one of the intros. I'll have to look.

Edit: Wars of Reaving, p7 it's mentioned.

"The Solaris feeds we watched when we were little. Or that idiotic cartoon about the Jade Falcons. Can you imagine if our Khans talked like that? 'You will pay for your treachery, Adam Steiner!' "

Also

http://www.sarna.net...Animated_Series

"The animated series as such is not considered Canon for the BattleTech universe. Instead, the show canonically exists in-universe as a work of fiction: It has been referred to in-universe as a popular but poorly reviewed holovid series by Tharkad Broadcast Company, said to be loosely based on the exploits the "real" 1st Somerset Strikers[1][2][3]; it was even known among Clan sibkos on the Clan Homeworlds by the 3070s through Solaris broadcasts.[4] The overall storyline and characters have thus been canonized at least in broad strokes."

So how will we implement the neurological damage caused by critical hits??? Oh and the required drug addictions to curb the pain of the implants?

Don't all players have neurological damage (they have had to deal with PGI after all) and drug addiction (Caffeine addiction for all those long hours playing)?

Seriously.

I would pay 10,000 MC for a module that gave me Enhanced Imaging.

See, I like the colorful thermal. Reminds me of Metroid Prime, no matter how annoying it is.

I'm about to seriously date myself here, but I wish our HUD's were a little more meaningful in game. In Wing Commander (yes, THAT Wing Commander), mastering the use of one's multi screen HUD while in the thick of combat was kind've a thing. Having multiple in game world screens on an in an in game monitor made for great immersion, no matter how annoying it was to track back forth between target data and ship system status. The game style HUD for the game is great, and it's easy... it's just kind've imersion breaking, which is probably a bigger deal among all of us BattleTech hard core sim people than it is for the gaming populace at large.

Still... would be cool, even if it were an optional UI switch.

I would be happy with being able to change the size, color, and brightness of the targeting reticles.

Yep... it's glorious.

I love that they didn't just ignore it, because let's be real, while it's not the best cartoon out there, it was okish for it's time, and one of the first major uses of CGI in cartoons at the time. [and it's still better than some 80's cartoons we had.]

And it makes sense if it was just a bad holotoon.

But yes, technically canon!

I like how they shoehorned Adam Steiner into Patriots and Tyrants and had him drop a "Information is ammunition" on Victor
