So i'm considering giving the TT-RPG a bout with my rp group. We're vets of many pen and paper rpgs, across 3 and a half editions of D&D, 2 of Exalted, a number of classic World of Darkness runs, BESM across 3 editions, and Star Wars across 2 editions. So i am no newbie to pen and paper.
But how does the lower is better gunnery/pilot system from the normal TT rules work out with the higher is better gunnery/pilot system in the rpg's more expansive rule kit?

Which edition of the Mechwarrior RPG are you playing?
I only have experience with the second edition, and there, the better you got, the higher the ranks you had in a skill, the lower were the final base value for success calculations, which translated perfectly to the tabletop

In AToW I think it's:
7 - Skill.
So a 4 Skill in AToW is 3 in Tabletop.
