I saw these reports too, I wonder if it was from people who were never able to start the game. Maybe they were killed during the match? First time I used it I was just starting, the other I had good cover so I didn't die.
You can test if after you die. Just quit the match and reenter. You will still be dead but you can see how it works.

Of course it was to late to do anything but lose.
This is great for people who have no control over being DC'd, needs to be removed for people who DC on purpose.

Bwahahaha.
If your team is so bad that they can decide a match in 2 minutes, the problem wasn`t the DCs but the idiots that threw the match while the DCs reconnected

There's no way to tell the difference between on purpose or not. That's why they have that 2 minute rejoin timer.
Are you sure?
if so then it is another item to be added to the fix it list...
They should be able to tell the difference between someone who hits ESC and 'quit match' vs someone who's ping to the server goes to zero

The only people who quit that way are the ones who want to get caught and banned. There are several other ways to disconnect that look like a crash to the server and the people doing it deliberately are most likely using these methods to cover their disco and make it look like a game client issue.
There is *no* way to tell the difference between that and a legitimate issue so the statement above is true - the server can't tell.
EDIT: I had the game crash while I was spectating and I was able to rejoin. When I restarted my Mech was locked in game, but the rejoin option was there. I thought 'But I'm dead..' I tried it and it replayed my death animation and I was able to spectate the rest of the match. Pretty cool.

I had a bug where it just went back to circling my mech without option.. but that was in the Patch notes.. they know it.
