This made me think of a few things:
1. Double Armor means that the effectiveness of any ammunition (in terms of damage potential) is halved off the bat
2. PGI increases (most) ammo reserves by 50% to offset this
So now most ammunition is sitting at ~75% of it's TT effectiveness. Just a quick math chunk to show this:
AC/10 has 10 shots in TT = 100 Potential Damage
AC/10 in MWO has 150 shots = 150 Potential Damage but since armor is doubled, this must be halved to make it comparable to TT. Thus, 150/2 = 75 Potential TT Damage.
Ergo, ammunition is currently sitting at ~75% of the amount it should be relative to TT. That said, precise aiming helps to offset this disadvantage slightly.
As it says in the quote, setting SRMs to 3 damage would actually bring them up to 75% effectiveness (to be on par with all other weapons) relative to TT, since 3 damage/missile *100 missiles / 2 (double armor) = 0.75 (Effectiveness Modifier) * 2damage/missile * 100 missiles. Alternatively, increasing SRMs to 150/ton would have the same result.
