P2W is never ever a good idea in any competetive online game, it simply destroys itself cause it will bleed out on players until it gets closed down when it can`t carry itself anymore with the few diehard fans left in the end.
whoever wants to attract a broad audience would never implement a P2W system unless he wants to commit business suicide.

Well its a short-time cashgrap, but extremely effective.
Just look at the massive amounts of Clans, even in mixed pug games.
As long as people buy them like crazy there will be no change at all.
