So I apologize for bringing up the ******** step child of the Battletech universe, but does anyone else hope that when (if) they introduce this mech to the game they use the Mechassault 2 model for it?

That just looks so much better to me, compared to this.

I think it is how thin and sleek the MA2 version looks. Either way, it is a Mech I would look forward to seeing reinvisioned for MW:O

9 years too early in the current timeline mwo is using, and the asp would instantly become the go-too metamech due to its high mounted gauss rifles and jump jet capable variant.

I'm just talking about like "What if this mech was in the game" . I suppose you're right about the metamech thing, which makes me sad :)

We will definitely have to wait for it, yes. And what the current meta is shouldn't determine Mech availability. PGI shouldn't be hostage to their own game mechanics. Meaning, they aren't. If they added the Blood Asp, it would probably have a lot of negative qwerks.

Personally I always leaned more to aesthetic mechs like the Stooping Hawk, but the hawk is one of the only omnimechs I know of that mounts a standard engine.....so yeah..... wouldn't do so well in MWO despite having endo/ferro and lighter clan weapons.

Turkina would fit the bill, but if the clans got a 95 ton jumping mech that includes a variant that features 2 gauss and 2 lrm20s....well the 'op clans' threads would just erupt into frothing convulsions.

Honestly, as much as I liked the MA Blood Asp, when you compare the two, that one is too skinny for its weight (especially since, at least according to the Phantom War instruction booklet, the Blood Asp apparently weighs 100 tons instead of 90), although I will admit I like the flexibility of those legs more.
Surely if they did bring the Star Adders' insult to the Blood Spirits into this game, they would at least partially change its physical appearance.

The MechAssault Blood Asp looks very much like a version done by a CG artist named Pawel Czarnecki many years ago. Not sure if he was involved in the MA design, but his is a happy medium between the two designs.

Actually I like the Sarna artwork much better. Imo its bulky design fits more it's weight of 90 tons. Feet could be better. And the Gauss weapons are too big. But the rest, especially the "head" is great.

But of course I would like to see it ingame too. In 2024 we get it. Damn that timeline. For what reason do we have that restriction anyway?

Don't worry, we're not waiting 9 years for it.

The timeline movement is to add immersion, and explain which mechs will be added, and when. However, I'm pretty sure PGI will do some time jumps. 3062-3078 there's pretty much nothing of import. So reasonable jumps to move the timeline a bit should be expected.

Looking at the TRO art again, I'm a little more okay with it. Just.. The legs definitely need a reworking. And the shoulders. But yeah.

The MechAssualt Star Adder with the MechAssualt 'Alpha Strike' insta-kill uuber PPC blast was amazing. I felt like I was piloting death itself, even more fearsome than an Atlas.

I like the legs on the TRO to be honest. They could be made more rounded and smoothed out, but the feet need to stay the way they are. I love those clutching talons.

EDIT: and the head, the TRO head is fantastic.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying the MA art is bad, just that it looks and feels like a 60 ton mech.
