I think PGI should sell lock boxes. This has proven as a good revenue generator in other games and also gives the paying players an opportunity to be able to use some unique mechs/gear. Here would be an example:

Grand Prize: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Orca

Rare Prizes: A module that would give 5 charges for every artillery strike OR if equipped on the Orca, it would give unlimited ammo for the sniper artillery piece. Another rare prize would be a MASC module. It would double the speed of any mech OR unlock the special actuators on the Orca to give it a speed of 171.9 kph. Having both modules equipped on the Orca would provide a set bonus of a +25% weapon cooldown rate, +50% torso twist and speed, and also a +25% armor strength bonus.

Regular prizes: 1 Small Laser, 1 Flamer, 1 Machine Gun, 1 Ton Machine Gun Ammo, 1 STD Heatsink.

Each lock box would be guaranteed to contain at the very least at one regular prize.

Lock boxes would cost 100 MC each, or would have a 1/10⁷ chance to be rewarded to any player who has premium time after each match.

If the OP is sarcasm:-

Heh, funny.
But in all honesty many f2p games do something like this, where the boxes contain cosmetics, boosts and other items that would normally cost in-game cash, or super rare cosmetics (unique paint jobs/colours perhaps). I myself have spent a bit of cash on SWTOR boxes and got some cool stuff. That would be a cool thing to have in mwo.
The premium time giving a chance to drop boxes is a good idea too. Gives people even more incentive to spend, I've spent almost all of my MC on bays, but if I could get cool paintjobs and things I'de inclined to spend more on premium time.

If the OP is serious (in regards to the 200 tonne mech and double speed buffs, the OP p2w suggestions):-

I have no words for someone that really thinks your suggestion is ok. Actually I do, but I'de get banned.

This is an excellent idea. Lockboxes have always improved games and made them successful; I'm sure this would help the game. Look at Star Trek Online for one: excellent game made even better with lockboxes and the game was eventually saved from dying. Amazing idea OP, just amazing. Please consider this PGI.

I agree, except for the MASC thing. They can't bring MASC into the game because CryEngine can't handle it.

Lock boxes are anathema to actual game development - as in, the company soon stops developing anything but stuff to put in lock boxes.

I've seen it happen first hand, in Champions Online (the other Cryptic game), and I hear it's the same in all PWE games.

Nothing gets into that game these days unless it has the best (and even the good) stuff locked away in random-chance $1 lock boxes (and it's roughly 0.001% chance to get the really good stuff - AND there's no guarantee you won't get duplicates either).

I really hope the OP was trying to be funny, but it's really not something to joke about.

Lock boxes kills games.

After looking at the OPs post several times, reading it again and again, I came to the conclusion that this is not a real suggestion.

I'll send it someplace safe!
