Am I missing something here? Why don't I get my 8/8 omnipod xp bonus every game?

The bonus is for using the 8 pods that come with the variant(center torso) . For example, using the Prime pods with the Prime center torso or the A pods with the A center torso.

Get a 6k experience game, your Omnipod bonus would net you 123-ish experience.

I really don't think it's worth bothering with.

Right now the boost is only 2.5%, which is largely worthless. I think PGI's intention was that each body part would contribute 2.5% and it would stack 8 times, but so far it isn't stacking.

clans get an xp bonus...? or is that just for the prime variant? Kinda like the (P) chassis in PP gives you a bonus when you use it?

That's worse than the Champion mech bonus if it doesn't stack...

The fundamental idea as far as I'm told is if you keep the stock omnipods for that variant, that you collect an XP bonus for doing that.

If it was 25%, it might be worth it. 2.5 is borderline worthless, since if you can mount more hardpoints you can get more damage, that can easily mitigate that 2.5% you lose.

ok well that's crap then. That's a "bonus" I'm not really ok with when it comes to clans. IS mechs should get a bonus like this as well.

IS 'Mechs should get a bonus for keeping all the OmniPods of one of their variants? o_O

The Omnipod set bonus was more to mitigate the fact that not swapping pods on an OmniMech is supposed to mean that you've lost all aspects of 'Mech customization - you can't mess with the thing's engine or structural upgrades, nor do you get to take advantage of the extra flexibility of pod-swapping.

If you want stock IS 'Mechs to get an XP bonus though, then by all means, carry on! :-P

exactly, stock IS mechs should get a bonus. There's several stock mechs I would feel fine running around in.

that bonus is the only real "imbalance" I see with clans

For some reason, I seem to only get it on matches that I win. Given how rare AMS hardpoints are on clan mechs, the bonus needs to be bigger and it should be for all matches, not just the victories.

All 3 of my Direwolves, 1 Stormcrow, 2 Warhawks, are 8/8 I play each mech until I get my 2x bonus and on some matches I get it and some I don't. It almost seems like you only get it if you win and survive the match.

As I recall you only get the bonus if you survive. Might also have to win, but I'm pretty confident about the survival part.

So if you got it every time (and it seems like you don't), it'd be worth 1682 XP over the course of fully leveling the mech.

That is actually less than my average XP/match, so it would save me one match during leveling.

Worthless.

The bonus is pointless.

I haven't considered taking a clan mech with stock pods since deliberetly for the "stock pod" bonus from the moment I seen the mechanic in the test server, things like an ecm arm or that 2nd ams on a summoner or more hardpoints is always a better option.

Well, it is an innovative PGI idea™.

it's actually a bonus for running stock omnipods not full stock... so yes, you can run an Alpha Whale and get the bonus from having all stock omnipods on 2 of it's variants.
