Never alpha strike unless you know this will be the last attack before you are likely to die.
JJs are a little bit slow in gaining height but in my opinion they can really assist the Nova and jump shooting is a great option - especially if you use a friendly heavy/assault mech in front of you as a shield.
89km/hr is not a bad speed and will allow you to catch enemy with their pants down. If you get to the rear of enemies you can take down a mech really quick and usually before they know what is happening.
I am an aggressive player which suits the mech's short range capabilities. Loosing a leg seems common as well as arms but the 4MGs helps. Main thing is to have a good aim and plant your "half alphas" in the same spot every time. I may not survive each game but I know that I have dished out at least 10 times my mech's weight that has killed or crippled the enemies before I go down leaving the rest of my team an easier job.
Main thing is at the start of the game keep a low profile, don't rambo it but look out for slightly separated mechs where you can concentrate a full on attack with. Seismic sensor to me is a vital module for those surprise ninja attacks and knowing what you are getting into before striking.
If a push is on let the heavies/assaults take the lead at first and then hit them hard.
The Nova has become my go to mech after playing Jenners for many years - which probably explains my aggressive playing style.
Cheers!
