I sometimes get an erection when piloting an Atlas. Its super awkward, plus I don't even like the Atlas.

Its just how it throws its shoulders about, the way it stomps around like it owns the place and everything else about it.

It's like they put all their time into the Timber Wolf walking animation, and then half-assed all the rest of them

Maybe the Dire Wolf's legs are PGI's introduction of TSM?

Only reason I can think that she would be striding like a ballerina.

I concur... Even in light of it's age the Microsoft series of MW had what I consider some of the best walking / striding / running animation to date and MekTek refined that even to a higher degree with their ancillary work.

As you mentioned, the early mech animations do clearly have a more fluid and "active" series of animations. The more recent mechs like the Clans do definitely lack that sort of finnish in their animations... My best description would be "stiff and lifeless".

Which is kind of sad... Like buying what you believe to be top-shelf Wine and finding it has a screw top. :D

You can get wine with out a screw top or spigot? :o

What is the purpose of this thread? We all agree to lost quality of animation in MWO, and also We are no more of a target audience for PGI/IGP. That who are we?

They don't care.

no surprise... considering the fact that some clan stuff seem like last minute coffee break ideas..! They had a deadline; either they did not prioritize properly or simply ran out of time, (imagine a 17th of june in which PGI could not release the clans... people would have nuked the forums)

Very rarely a studio revises the art/animation of a released work (which is sad everytime i see a tip-toeing dire wolf - or any clan mechs except the timber wolf - on the field)... but here's hoping.!

Yea that was very cool. Almost Everything about the CB game looked better and felt better. Even the "sandy" goldy look to the game and mechs, the enemy mech targeting box, the sounds (pulse lasers were awesome) and especially explosions.

we KINDA have that now.

It's not nearly as impressive as it was. In closed beta, you could see it have a real impact. you could see the enemy mech shudder and pop as the rounds went off before falling over.

Now it's kinda a big POP...then the mech dies, there's not really much shuddering around to it.

Some of the sound work back in closed beta sounded better too... I miss some of the old sounds. *le sigh*

Still clans currently sound the best.

Wait, this is an animation thread... uh... quick stay on topic!

Yeah we need more damage animations!

Actually regarding that- is there actually any damage animations for newer 'Mechs? I can't remember seeing newer 'Mechs react to hits, though it might just be my memory. I can certainly remember original 'Mechs like the Atlas recoiling as it takes a AC20 to an arm, but I can't seem to remember Clan 'Mechs reacting at all.

Yea on the new mechs I just recall bullets just exploding separately to the mech within a few mech lenghths of their location without any reactions.

But then again the whole hitting a mech feels awfull now. With 270 ping I fire my bullets> See them come out of my mech instantly as you should, dissapear without a trace when they get to the enemy mech after striking it> A second or so later when the enemy mech has moved about 3-4 mech lengths away from where my bullets struck, there will be a mid air explosion of bullets. 50% the time the mech will take no damage, if HSR works it will take partial damage.

The feeling of the game has been so desycned and yucky. You 50-100ms pingers dont know how good you have it.

The Atlas knows how to mover her hips when she walks. She may not be a pretty face, but she has a strut that doesn't quit LOL.
