Niko said I could announce the publication of my science fiction novel here. Now, it isn't MechWarrior, but it is hard science fiction. It is only in digital format.

Link: http://amzn.com/B00HFYCZHA

It takes place roughly a thousand years in the future. Interstellar space travel is made possible by means of the way space can fold back on itself, such that two points widely separated overlap. Problem is that the overlap exposes serious imbalances between the energy states of the paired regions. But humanity discovered one such place in the solar system that had been tamed by someone else, an alien civilization that ruled before humanity was even walking upright.

The story evolves around a guy named Steve Holbrook. He's a sheriff on an agricultural planet devoted to feeding the overpopulated Earth. Steve is also in the ACM Alliance reserves defending the planet and trade routes in-system from acts of piracy and the like.

But a heavy cruiser shows up and Steve and his squadron have to try and defend their planet. They survive but the planet is destroyed, and Steve has to figure out who did it, how it was done, and why.

Along the way he find an alien artifact nobody seems able to open.

Anyway, my thanks to Niko and the devs for permitting me to provide this link and announce publication. If anyone has a comment or question I'll do my best to be responsive.

Man, as excited as I am to find out if you're a genius; don't make me pay five bucks for a proofread.

@lashropa the book has three editors credited. It would be odd if you had to proofread.
The typos in my OP are evidence I needed three editors, but they did a good job. In the finished copy I have subsequently found three errors among the 90,000+ words, none of them egregious, and they will be fixed soon.
All three were my fault when I was correcting my manuscript to try and meet the final editor's recommendations.

Any fault in the book is my responsibility, not theirs. Yours belong to you, as is right.

Best wishes.

My objective wasn't to pretend to genius. It was to write a good, character driven story. It was a good read for me. Let me know either way how it went for you. I'll pay attention.

@ lashropa you are a prophet: I am putting revisions to the book in place. Rushing to publish in time for the holidays was a mistake.

Regardless of personal opinions on the content (because I haven't read it) congratulations on such a big accomplishment
