P.S. Even the mock-up mech has recoil but god forbid we add this to the actual game...

It took me around 2 months to design and build, that includes figuring out the correct way the arms must fold up. It took me 2 weeks to rig, ive used a technique known as set driven keys. This allowed me to move a slider from point A to point B and all the flaps and hatches open on there own. The shoulders also have pistons that can both contract and extend when moving the shoulders around.
I had to research how to do this so it would be quicker to rig in the future.
I spent a day texturing it (textures are supper bad and i plan to go back and add a bump map to it) and around 4 weeks animating it. 8 hours a day at least animating, wanted to leave myself 8 weeks to animate so you can imagine on how much more i wanted to animate and fix some of the existing animation.
So all in all i would say 4 months. I am a novice though and i feel after creating it that i can make it again in half the time and quite a bit better, especially the rigging. Ive recently learnt how to create wires that would move independently around the mech as i animated.
Oh and this model is also game ready
