Well, that's good and dandy..

but a typo of f/s instead of m/s is hardly something to knot up your panties over

XD

Its not a typo. It is math 101. I just said that they should do things right the first time and not take 2 to 4 times to do stuff.

have we convinced op that gravity does not succumb to mech speeds yet? Until that point is acknowledged and accepted none of your arguments will make sense to them

Until PGI goes back over the maps and fixes invisible sh*t that causes damage before your sensors tell you you're on the ground, there's really no point arguing over the semantics of it.

So it was decided to to just re-label feet per second to meters per second and call it a day.

The math for this is beyond comical. According to this 'new math' mechs are virtually unbreakable.

Light mechs will now take damage only when they hit the ground at 37 meters per second it says in the patch notes.

That is 133 kph.

ASSAULT MECHS SPEED THRESHOLD IS 108 KPH!!!!! I wish I had a 100+ kph assault mech lol.

A 50m fall will get you up to about 110kph splat at the bottom for the record.

PGI, I will save you the work of looking it up, the conversion factor is 0.3048 meters per foot.

Hate to break it to you but... CryEngine uses "units", not truly scaled meters or feet, as do most game engines.

tsdr; your argument is invalid.

The game uses a gravity value of about 36 m/s^2 (compared to 9.8 m/s^2 on Earth), so be sure to take that into consideration when doing fall calculations.

The falling velocity was already being displayed in meters per second. The previous ft/s label was just wrong.

No the game uses earth gravity for all its physics. You can look up things like projectile drop in the game files and see it valued at 9.8m/s.

OP is right. They literally just changed the "F" to "M" without bothering to convert.

Except for the fact it was never really measuring fall speed in "F" to begin with...

It doesn't matter (link to post quoting myself, read the 2nd paragraph in particular if you care) because it already made little sense to bother changing it in the first place, but essentially nothing was changed this way so ultimately I don't care, I will care if people whine about nothing and want the vertical speed indicator to be changed for the worse for no valid reason though.

Honestly, who gives a ****? You're piloting things that would collapse under their own weight anyways. A Cataphract somehow weighs about the same as an Abrams. Battletech does NOT correlate well with real life whatsoever.

I'm pretty sure that's not true. Projectiles do drop at 9.8m/s^2, but 'Mechs drop at nearly 3x that rate. People have put a good amount of testing into it.
