Game Stuck At 50 Fps

I seem to be having a problem after downloading the new Nvidia drivers (v340.52).

No matter what settings I have setup within the Nvidia Control Panel and within MWO, it always seems to run at 50 FPS maximum.

I have sys_maxFPS = 75 within my user.cfg. Vertical sync is turned off everywhere I can see it visible (within MWO, in the Nvidia Control Panel, ect.)

I am not sure what else to do.

Dude what are you complaining about? Be lucky that you have 50 frames some players can only dream about it!

Delete the driver and reinstall it again.

I have the same problem at 60 FPS at my Mac Book Pro 9,1 laptop ... although I am sure that this is a HARDWARE limitation to avoid heating up my computer too much !

Have you been able to use more than 50 FPS before the latest drivers ?
Did you update the BIOS of your graphics card or computer too ?
What type of GPU and graphic card are you using ?

Maybe you need a OVERCLOCK tool to set higher heat limit for your GPU !
But dont forget : the more heat, the earlier your GPU will get destroyed !

False its the voltage running through the card that is more likely to kill it than the heat

my guess:
check the refresh rate for your monitor in the nvidia panel. most likely its set to 50hz and vsync is enabled somewhere.

That is a funny fallacy. It's like saying the ground is more likely to kill you than the falling to someone who is at 30,000ft with no parachute. Let me explain.

Heat is directly connected to voltage, as heat is just electrical energy being released. If you overclock your system without raising the voltage, the only reason it is hotter is because it is drawing more power under load in the first place. Increasing voltage just has the effect of raising the basic, or 'idle' power draw of the card to cope with those higher speeds when you reach a point where the standard amount of watts being fed in just can't cope. Note that in the interests of being able to sell as many chips as possible, all chip manufacturers will usually test something to a power budget (wattage) and then sell it with 10-30% more power going through it, so even slightly bad 'bins' (GPU batches) will still function. That's why many of us can overclock without increasing voltages.

As a result, it is precisely the heat that kills the card. Voltage is just an easy way to accelerate that by introducing more heat at all times, rather than just when your card is working hard.


A little off topic I know, but I couldn't resist the lure to talk hardware.
