Love is defined as "a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person." If one studies the various religions of the world, one will find that many of them can be summrazied in one word: love. The greatest expression of love in most cultures is the willingness to sacrafice oneself for the benefit of another. One could argue that love is indeed the most powerful force in the universe, causing men to do things unimaginable under normal circumstances, and giving them strength to endure and overcome tremendous adversity.
Love is not generally associated with war but perhaps it should be. During no other time in history is this sort of self sacraficing love expressed more than during times of war. There are many tales of men who jumped onto grenades to save their comrades, or of men who wade forth into murderous enemy fire to rescue a fallen brother in arms.
