Back up your "profile" folder found in

EG;

C:\programfiles\PGI\Mechwarrior\User\Profile

Before each patch and then Copy back in after the patch and all your Weapon groups shall be alive.

that doesn't fix the problem where you change one mechs weapon group setup, and it messes up another mech, but yeah I suppose if your losing your weapons groups after a patch, that might help...

Neither should happen. Nor should game files break while patching. The patcher app needs to be ripped apart and redone, seriously.
