Notice how the "buy mech" button is in the same spot as the customize one? That's because they're hoping that YOU won't notice and will end up buying a trial mech.
It's a not-so-subtle cashgrab attempt. Much like today's patch will be.

i never understood the aggravation and rage about this lol...
i wonder the people most annoyed by this do you
have only a few mechs
or
Have a ton of mechs
personally i have like 90 mechs (good lord....) and i dont even notice trial mechs because i usually know exactly when mech i want to play and go right to it. Ive actually scrolled past a trial and said hmmm ehh what the hell why not and took it for a spin.
i wonder the people most annoyed by this do you

I'm going to hazard a guess of BOTH, but while it is more "scattered now", it affects the former more than anything else.
