But do you own a Banshee even though it has five fingers and one thumb on each hand, although according to all Battletech sourcebooks and miniatures, it should have four fingers and one thumb on each hand (PGI did admit that this was a mistake that was not caught before the Banshee was released)?

I just found that Firebrand bashing on the forum

Man I can't believe that is real

Its a matter of faith... which guides the actions of more than just the Seraphim. Call it what you will I say it is a matter of standing for what you believe. Don't belittle them or anyone else who lets their faith (and not just speaking from a Christian perspective in this regard) guide how they conduct themselves. You both have a set of rules that govern your actions theirs is guided but what seems to be a different one as compared to yours.

Man, it is starting to feel like a 80s metal gig with the firebrand, pretty baby and this one. I mean, the firebrand even is "FROM HELL" in case someone can't understand figure out the paint job by themselves. I'm slightly worried that this one will say "TOTAL BADASS INSIDE" or something on the back..

Paint job aside, I like the heat isolation quirk gameplay-wise, but it totally annoys the side of me who can't let go from high school physics 101. Even on the hottest maps, the fusion-powered mech is venting its heat to the atmosphere, not the other way around. A heat isolation quirk would always be terrible with the exception of the lava on Terra Therma.

Edit:
Here are some screenshots.
First a set with default colors and only PPCs in the arms (to show the nice camo) and then another set with black/black/beige with 2LP, 4ML, 2SRM6 loadout.
Enjoy!

Now people can feel the pain I felt when the Huggin was introduced. The only redeeming feature of most of the 'Hero' mechs is the 30% c-bill boost. Other than that, there are very few with good loadouts, most people transform them into something close to what they run in their other varients, and not use the unique hardpoints.

I use the a number of the hero mechs stock. I find the Jester and the hero Banshee to be really solid stock. Same with the Death's Knell. Some of them work really well if you get their tactics.

I'm definitely curious about this one.

Okay, the black paint scheme just sold me on this mech. Soon as it's on sale, I am buying it.

Now the percentage of the 50% heat transfer quirk aside...
Fitting the environmental sealing was impossible, sadly. Even if I converted it to a Omnimech. So it was impossible to test to see if it had similar results. (This is on something I was saying several pages back on this thread about seeing if environmental sealing would do something similar on tabletop).

Anyway, I'm actually glad that we got our Hellslinger. It's an actual canon mech of notoriety.
"BLR-1GHE BattleMaster HellSlinger
This Star League Era variant removes the Machine Guns and SRM launcher and their ammunition. The SRM launcher is replaced by three Streak SRM-2 launchers with a single ton of ammunition. Two forward Medium Lasers are removed, and an extra PPC is mounted in the left arm. Sixteen Double Heat Sinks keep the 'Mech cool, and the 'Mech's armor is upgraded to Ferro-Fibrous armor. An extra half ton of armor is also installed."

Rare, but common enough to be acceptable in some numbers on the same field.

Since I'm one of the ones that threw this at NGNG, I'll be buying one in the near future.. Though anything beyond 25% better/worse of anything is always questionable (in regards to the external heat transfer).

Mate i think you are really worrying about the heat quirk a bit too much.

Having 50% less heat affecting you on hot maps is far more noticeable than having 50% less cooling affecting you on cold maps.

I really can't see why people can't see the obvious advantage of this, unless no one can manage their heat normally anyway regardless of map. I very rarely come too close to overheating on cold maps, whereas i am always running hot on hot maps. I am sure there are others out there who are the same? In which case this quirk is a very good one.

Love the Hellslinger, torso twisting is slightly slower than i would like but with 6 x ML and 3 x SRM6, AMS, BAP, full armour, lots of ammo and heat sinks and a STD 325 its a real nice brawler.

I say-- good for them in standing up to aspire to be something more than what is widely accepted as normal.

Beliefs aside, no one can deny that the worlds morals are on a pathetic, downward spiral.

Back on topic: As a Battlemaster fan/pilot, I can't help but feel a little underwhelmed. While I love that it is canon faithful to the TT Hellslinger-- I think that the negative quirks will render this energy dependent chassis ineffective on the current battlefield. Time will tell, though...

It is going to be a very stable energy mech though. The 50% modifier to external heat means that it can run relatively smooth on any map.

Aye the -50% outside-heat quirk seems good enough, but not too strong.
If you get like 14% minimum heat in the caldera of Caustic, you might only get up to 7% with the same # of DHS than others.
You might overheat a bit slower walking in the Lava of TT, but who does that intentionally?
You might get only -2% standing still in Frozen City instead of -4% (or however much that is).

I don't see a real benefit that would make it too strong, but it gives some flavour and it feels "good" like the latest Awesome buffs.
Not that it will be enough to help against the heat of 6 Energy HP and 3 Missile HP.

The point is I can see the advantage of this. It's a HUGE advantage.
It's the percentage that I'm concerned about. PGI loves doing obscenely high percentages, like 55% faster acceleration on the skill tree, 20% more threshold, etc. Here we are, 50% reduced external heat influences.

Instead of a reasonable number like 25% or less.

Well, I have to say I'm disappointed in this. I've been waiting for the Hero Battlemaster for some time, and this was pretty much a let-down on all counts.

The name and paintjob ensure I won't be purchasing this mech, as I don't play my game from the standpoint of a Black Sabbath rocker. I don't need some 'cool' paintjob and 'wicked' name for me to feel confident in my battlemech. I'd feel very embarrassed to be walking around the battlefield in this mech.

That aside, the mech features even more reliance on energy weapons than the standard version, in a game environment which ensures even the basic model can't use all the energy slots it has and the heat sink mechanics further ensure that this mech will never be able to employ the weapons it already has. The original mech was impressive because two PPCs had a very good capability to destroy an enemy mech quickly (more than a few times with a single volley) while remaining without heat buildup, but in MWO, the PPCs do only light to moderate damage to a mech and generate so much heat that they cannot be fired more than two or three times without the mech shutting down.

Then we add in the insulation factor, which removes any real cooling from environmental sources (the heat gained from such sources is less important as this mech will still be overheating even without that), as well as the reduction in reaction speed, and I don't see how this mech is supposed to be worth purchasing.

Of all the Battlemasters in Battletech, I don't understand why this one was chosen. But I guess I'll just have to forget ever owning a Hero Battlemaster now.

So just out of interest, can anyone tell me why would I get this instead of a BLR-1S? As a mech, not for grinding C-Bills.

We will have to see if grinding is more efficient with the Hellslinger or the BLR-1S. I will observe this weekend and decide if I will purchase one when they come on sale. It took forever to get the Stalker on sale.

you gave it ferro-fibrous instead of endo steel, you should really give ferro some sort quirk

It should have it's TT quirk of increasing the mech's max armor. An Atlas with Ferro is supposed to have a max armor rating of 688 rather than the current 614.

What is the lore based justification for the reduced environmental effects?

Well, I don't own any battlemasters... so I won't be getting this any time soon... but...

Maybe this increases the chance of us getting the Night Gyr omnimech...?

Its a 3052 design so its not that far off... It uses Laser Heat Sinks, which dissipate heat by emitting light energy, rather than by using a conventional heat pump design.

They were rare and more complicated (higher cost?) but weren't any more effective overall, so the laser heat sinks didn't really catch on.

Even still, I would imagine that a laser heat sink would be less impacted by ambient temperature than a heat pump based design would be.

Night Gyr would get an extra 'nerf' though, in that it would glow when hot, and be a terribly easy target to hit on dark maps.
