The AC20 lets off a 3 shell burst - is the 20 damage, per shell (a total of 60 damage if all three shells hit) or 20 for the 3 shells (6.66 per shell)?

Clan AC20? Burst adding up to 20 damage
IS AC20? Single shell for 20 damage

The IS AC 20 fires one shot for 20 damage at optimal range.
The Clan AC20 fires 5 shots for 4 damage each at optimal range.

the inner sphere one shoots only 1 bullet for 20 dmg

No problem, but yes, Clan ACs fire a burst that totals up to their damage rating. Which means if you keep moving and twisting you can reduce their impact.
