If this is the "new official position" like the non-explanation to everyone about the true solo+group queues... well...

Sources of the queues being truly separate:
Karl's take @ the time:
http://mwomercs.com/...ost__p__3584963

Reddit - from NGNG's Sean Lang:
http://www.reddit.co...tely_solo_only/

Related thread about it being official - with Twitter references:
http://mwomercs.com/...olo-group-only/

Have fun discussing. Niko or someone else HAS the opportunity to "GET THEIR STORY STRAIGHT".

Umm. what? This was changed a few weeks ago to purely solo players, wasnt it? I'm confused.
I'm a solo player, I never queue in groups because I have no friends - I would like to know if I am dropping against groups.

yep. swore I saw a few groups in the solo tonight. 2,3 and 4 mans.

least its confirmed.

I'm confused like everyone else in that thread: Why the Change? Why no telling us? Why up to 4 man instead of 2s only? Many more whys....

Also a "what" and a "huh"?

After all the effort it took to purge premades from a queue, apparently quietly sticking them back in without so much as a patch note was the best way to do so?

Bravo, PGI. You now make significant changes and deliberately break the news by tucking a post into a relatively obscure topic about a hotfix.

In all fairness to Niko, I think this change was around the time he was relocating to Vancouver, so he may have missed out on the info. Hope he comes in and confirms it one way or another.

Niko - was that changed just for the Clan v's IS test only or is that the new 'normal'. Seems strange as the 'solo only' queue was well received by most and to have that changed unannounced could/will generate ummmm much angst.

I do not care which way is actually goes ... but PGI please for the love of all things big, stomy and robotic - make a decision and stick with it or at least EXPLAIN your testing.

It might not seem a big issue to you but it is a big issue to solo AND group players and makes a huge difference to how people percieve the game.

At the very least put some sor of marker on your OWN team showing who is in a group for both solo and group queue so people can at least know. (we do not need to see the enemies til the end of the game)

It won't stay obscure for long that is for sure...

PUGS and Premades no longer function quite like they used to, so the situation you are describing isn't the case here.

The "Solo" Queue now matches a 2-4 person premade group per team and uses this premade as the keystone for the rest of the matching. All Groups of 5-10 form the Group Queue, also filled in with 2-4 person groups to round off the teams, but never with individual pick-up gamers.

What this all boils down to is that PUGs are no longer purely PUG, and also shouldn't be facing off against large premade groups. Otherwise, testing of Clan vs IS was focused in the Solo queue.

just for those that didn't see the thread

My question is, if you drop with three or fewer friends (group of 2-4), which queue are you "weighted" towards?

Are you more likely to enter the "solo" queue, or the "group" queue?

Probably depends on how hungry the group matchmaker is?

Solo queue during the week and it took 18 drops tonight to get a win. Only two of those matches qualified as close. Spent the rest of the night getting demolished by multiple groups on the other side. Almost seemed like group queue vs solo queue with obvious results.

Think me, and my money, will sit out until PGI states this is fixed.

It better stay that way. Its better to have one somewhat level playing field than two jacked up team stacking queues. Even adding in two mans would screw it up.

Well, that's resolved.

On the other hand, I would like to think someone as important as the community manager would keep up to date with the devs in a more unified manner, so that everyone's on the same page. That's kind of a sticking point on many PGI communication bits that never seems to be "clear as day".

I think humans are entitled to mistakes now and again. It's not like this is a usual occurrence with niko.

You are correct. I should note that it was my first week in Piranha's office when that particular matchmaker change occurred. We've been building the knowledge management tools* since then to avoid these sorts of situations and this one definitely slipped through the cracks before I had settled in. For that, and for any stirred feelings in my error, I truly apologize.

With that said: In defense of myself, my colleagues, and game devs everywhere: Mistakes will always happen in knowledge sharing. While I will seek to minimize that; Nobody is perfect and we will always strive to redact and correct our errors as they are brought to our attention.

let ya off easy this time....next time...you buy the beers!
