Seriously, this thing was made in 2831, you'd think the other clan mechs would go for having ridiculous mobility, instead of everyone just doing this.

Except the wheels are legs.

You'll have to wait a long time for the IIC's, I think.

Besides, they might be a big Long Tom direct hit for game balance. Clan mechs without the Omnimech restrictions? "Holy ****" might be very appropriate a term.

Without the Omnimech restrictions, they might just deflate the hardpoints to compensate.

i doubt it. I figure that will be the next pack sold. IIc "tech" will be modified clan tech using pods just like clans do just with slightly less range but a little less heat. ACs will be burst fire like clans. That gives everyone 3 techs to play with and a whole new line of "clan buster" IS mechs. Then you get the next clan pack

Deflating hardpoints would make the stock builds of the variants impossible.

They might also lock crit-slots. There are plenty of ways to nerf it.

Either way, if the current crop of Clan 'Mechs aren't OP (and I don't necessarily think they are), the Clan Battlemechs would be OP for sure.

The prbolem is, IIC mechs are second-line units for various freebrth scum on backwater garrison duty. AFAIK, they were not present in the initial invasion, and only came into play much later either when clan occupation zones settled down or when overextended clan logistics and production could no longer supply omnimech-equipped units in amounts required. Might be wrong on the analysis, but, IIRC, IIC refits only appeared in TRO3055.

The thing is, though, they were in existence before the invasions. At least, the Locust IIC did. It predates the invasions by over 200 years, and it's not a refit. It's a purpose-built machine.

They did exist. They did not, however, partake in the invasion. And therefore were not known to IS during the invasion.

As far as I understand, they were kinda retconned into timeline sometime in TRO3055. Like many pre-starleague designs that resurfaced during Jihad.

It makes me sad to think we'll never get a game like that again...

Though, MAV from BombDog studios is making a similar game, combat and construction wise, but since it's still alpha, not much in the form of CW or content.

Chromehounds was amazing, and I am eagerly awaiting MAV. Even though it has come a long way since it started, it is still very much an alpha.

On topic though. As awesome as having IIC variants would be, they are probably a very long way away.

While the IIC 'Mechs (and non-IIC, non-OmniTech Clan BattleMechs like the Kodiak) did exist prior to the initial Clan Invasion & did partale in the Invasion, they were not spearhead units; they were used primarily to equip & reinforce a planetary garrison (a duty which would generally fall to solahma & lower-tier MechWarriors) once a world had been conquered, with the frontline units (higher-tier MechWarriors piloting OmniMechs) moving on to conquer new worlds.

Aside from the potential gameplay balance issues that Clan BattleMechs represent (the customizability of IS 'Mechs, plus Clan tech), the near-totality of them simply don't have three available variants until the 3060s & beyond, or never have three variants at all, or are tied to the Macross-based Unseen & are held hostage by Harmony Gold. As such, it's unlikely that any of them would be introduced anytime soon, if ever.

Chromehounds was quite fun. That was the first game I bought when I got a Xbox360 and when I convinced my friends to get it we started a unit to fight in the war. I'm not really sure we had any impact but it was fun anyway.

Well they could easily tie them to the regular chasis's (wtf is the plural of chasis?). You want to play that Hunchie IIC? Fine, just master 3 regular Hunchies first.

Wolf's Dragoons were using IIc mechs in the Inner Sphere. They even had their own mobile mech factory.
