With the introduction of the unit "coffers" it made me think of a much better C-Bill sink than Community Warfare or consumables could ever offer. Granted it all hinges on one thing, a consistent influx of new or returning players.

While I'm sure PGI doesn't want the sharing of C-Bills through these coffers to ever happen nor did they ever plan to. If you think about it, allowing veterans who have been sitting on piles of money to donate to cadets and new players and give a better boost than the cadet bonus could ever hope to amount to. This is great as it allows those who want to play in leagues or semi-competitively the ability to help cadets get on their path to such play (by helping them get the 'good/required' mechs faster).

Now of course the one thing that is going to be responded to this is "then PGI will get less sales because cadets aren't buying things to help them get started."

All I have to say, is who do you think spends more money than anyone else and probably continues to spend that money, new players or vets. My bet is on the vets. This is also provided a new player could find a unit to join up with, but I don't think that's too hard right now and this would definitely improve the new player experience as it can give units a slightly more active role in training new players and would greatly benefit the new players because they need all the help they can get.

Better new player experience = more loyal customer = potential vet that will spend money and repeat the cycle

People usually become more devoted if they actually earned the C-Bills by themselves.

Coffers probably will only be able to be spent on contracts or something else.

I haven't spent a goddam cent for over a year and refuse to until PGI stop taking the p1ss with their MC pricing. It is absurd right now.

I would LOVE to see stats like what proportion of mechs owned by players have a custom paintjob that was paid for with MC. I bet the proportion is not huge. If they dropped pricing to the point where it was a neglible cost to paint up a mech then everybody would, and the uptake of a lot of these consumables would be vastly increased. I don't mind spending money I just react badly to people charging absurd prices.

They only charge what we as the consumers are willing to pay, right? ;)

And judging from the pug queue for the last 2 months, at least half of the droppers had bought the Clan pack. No wonder PGI is not dropping prices.

25,000 initially sold (50% at the top 2 packages) and selling about 300 Clan mechs a day, according to Russ in that NGNG interview.

I don't know what they have in mind for merc units to spend their donated Cbills on, but being able to give it to other players will never be allowed. Way too easy to farm Cbills that way.

Well, that certainly makes me feel hip.

Still managing to hold on to my purse until PGI makes the game up to my standards.

You'd think with all that money they'd be able to attract some people to fill the positions that have been open for well over a year...

Well, even with all those mechs sold, and the higher price point, it still made less than the Founder's. But I guess it will make up for it eventually. I bet they will sell a lot of Timber Wolfs and Dire Wolfs.

If PGI wasn't basically a front using the money from MWO to keep the lights on while they did contract work for other developers they could use some of the Clan money to outsource the work to korea and get everything done in six months.

I think PGI got a wake up call with clan sales. When a MUCH smaller number of players spend MORE money on a sight unseen game to help crowdfund than the Clan "invasion", well let's just say that's a pretty telling number. Can you imagine how much money they'd have made if they hadn't spent the last 2 years on things like
"true" support
islands
positions at the time
new demographics
mocking customers
dismissing customers?
Can you imagine how much money they'd have made had they NOT pissed off the vast majority of that original founder's crowd?
Now do we see why acting like a professional is so important...?
