I want to buy a new chassis while this current sale is going on, so I need to make the purchase before 8pm Central Time today. Sorry for the short notice. My play style is usually die fast, ok so really it is I like to fight up close and do lots of damage. I occassionaly like to do damage from range (especially as I close in). I prefer energy with good cooling, but I am ok with ballistics or missiles too (just lasers work best against lights). I currently pilot a group of Cataphracts, almost elited them. I have an AWS 9M left over from doing elite on the 8Q, 8R and 9M. I do enjoy running it with LRMs for range and then closing in with twin ERPPCs. And I have a BJ-3 left over from doing elite on the Blackjacks (BJ-1, 1DC and 3). My current funds are about 3.8 mil (hence wanting to do the sale that is currently going on). I am debating between a Quickdraw 4G/4H, a Stalker 3H/3F, or a Wolverine 6R, or a Shadow Hawk or a Griffin.
To help some with narrowing it down, I never run more than 2 groups of weapons due to my mouse and keyboard - I am not a high end gamer and so I have no special options just a 2 button mouse and standard keyboard (and I am not skilled enough a pilot to set up the buttons better than normal). I like to set my current weapons as a close and long range or else big guns and small guns to keep heat down as much as possible.
Any ideas which fits better to this style? And please let me know why...

Griffin 3M is a great deal right now. It'll get you that XL engine and DHS with the reduced price, which is a great deal.
Also, all 3 variants are on sale atm, so you can elite that much cheaper if you have the cbills now.
SHD 2H is the only one on sale atm iirc, but it's solid. You don't get the benefit of the upgrades/engine/etc though.
Quickdraws are not great. Tonnage is awkward, the legs are giant targets, and you're restricted to energy and missiles for the cbill variants, which other mechs do better.
Stalkers (especially the 3F) are fun. There's nothing tankier than a stalker with a std engine, but you'll feel very slow. Gotta pay attention to the map/your team if you run one of these. That said, assymetric loadouts are amazing on stalkers because of the huge side torsos: you can soak up an incredible amount of damage on one side before letting any hit your weapons on the other.
Long story short, if you can grid out the additional 1.5 million cbills for the griffin 3M, do it. It's a great chance to get a great mech.

The only way I will hit that much more c-bills in time will be to sell my AWS 9M. I enjoy using it now and then, but I am not against selling it if I need to. I can do good as an LRM boat when I have someone target lock for me (same story as all LRM pilots). I prefer the mobility of jump and the ammo-less nature of weapons (hence my BJ-3 with 2 ERLL and 4 ML and 4 JJ). I did notice while running my Cataphract 3D (not used it in months - been doing the AWS elite skills) that I do not just as much as I used to, I more use it to get into good positions or up hills. But the AWS have no variants with JJ and I was able to elite them...
update - new spending limit without selling the AWS 9M is 4 million c-bills.

If you want energy stalker 3f can boat plenty or even go full lrm. Shadowhawk needs a ac and griffin needs srms. For getting in and unloading id go with a stalker.

I tend to die fast... even when pilotting a missile boat... so to me it is nice to be able to do the damage and do what help I can as quickly as possible...

Bought the 3F... Now to outfit it with better gear as I am able to, I have a whopping 120k c-bills left, but all c-bills earned - got to keep my AWS 9M.

Go with the Quickdraws, they are great skirmishers and good brawling support.SRM:s and medium pulse lasers are preferred.Only torso twist if you have a STD engine, otherwise deathstare and jumping to spread the damage.
LRM boating can be done with 4H,and laserboating with 5K (best IS laserboat imo)
I got my faction challenge mechbay with 4G (4 med pulse,SRM4,SRM6,2 JJ,270STD).
