This is an idea to bring back the multi-variant incentives of the old mastery system as a top-end addition to the new skill tree, and add some new achievements in the process.

Divide 'mech mastery into three levels. the first, bronze, is acheived at 91 SP and awards bronze "wings" for that variant.

Mastering two variants of a chassis to the bronze level awards the achievement "<chassis> proficiency" with a suitable XP, C-Bill or other award, and raises the skill cap to 95 for that chassis.

Silver mastery is achieved at 95 SP and awards silver "wings" for the variant.

Mastering three variants of a chassis to the silver level awards the achievement "<chassis> mastery" with a suitable award, and raises the skill cap to 99 for that chassis.

Gold mastery is achieved at 99 SP and awards gold "wings" for the variant. Achieving the first gold mastery awards a title appropriate for the 'mech chassis.

Only 'mech or general XP may be used beyond 91 SP - no historic XP or SP. Finally, SP cost 1600 XP each from 92-95 and 2400 XP each from 96-99.
