So I had a NCIX gift card from buying my Video card, so I used it towards this:
http://www.ncix.com/...-92025-1224.htm

Holy moly.

- MWO looks awesome on a large IPS screen at 1980x1200.
- My FPS is rock solid @ 60fps (vsync) now. Was getting inconsistent performance @ 1680x1050 on my old, 20" screen.
- Went ahead and increased my FOV to 80. Sweet jebus, IT'S LIKE BEING IN THE MECH.

...and I guess having more desktop space for "working" is nice too.

Anyways. I was wondering why my 290 wasn't holding a high clock speed while playing this game (and having wierd FPS fluctuations) even on ultra settings. I guess 1680 x 1050 just wasn't "manly" enough for it..

or something. Anyways, this is awesome. Gotta go play

If you're asking about clock speed fluctuations of your 290 while on the old monitor (1680x1050), it's probably normal (google "Powertune") - just AMD's way of adjusting power to match load.

with R9 290 try one of the cheap 27 inch korean monitors

http://www.amazon.co...ds=crossover+qw

I got one myself and boy! the 2560P * 1440P glossy IPS 27 inch monitor is addicting! I dont even need to equipt advance zoom for long distance anymore!

its pretty much best bang for the buck. mine comes perfect and the only disadvantege is the screen being too bright. but the whole experence is just unmatchable!

its so pretty that I actually enjoy playing in terra therma because of how the COLORS POP OUT!
