Ok so with Paul's post here

http://mwomercs.com/...10#entry3481510

And the statement

On a side note, I've seen the rumblings of people thinking that mixed teams of Clan and IS 'Mechs will be the norm from here on out. This is not the case. Faction (IS/Clan) combat is a big part of Community Warfare as are the skirmishes between the Houses themselves and the Clans themselves. This requires additional work to the database, player data and match making systems and will come out at a later time.

What are the plans for people that have purchased a clan pack and or some of the IS packs or hero's that have been released? Does the fact that a player owns some IS champions or hero's and he selects a clan faction mean he is prevented from playing those mechs? If he does do those count for his faction? Or he is limited to playing them only in private matches? There are quite a few questions along these lines. All of which could seriously impact some of the biggest supporters of this game.

They've previously implied that, for CW matches, you'll be restricted to Clan 'Mechs if you play Clan, and IS 'Mechs if you play IS. But in random PUG drops you'll be able to take whatever you want regardless of affiliation.

Whether or not this is still the design direction they're taking is another question, but they've got to find some way for people to use all of the 'Mechs they've paid for.

Is can't play clans in cw drops, and clans can't play IS in cw drops. This was answered in a pod cast by Russ. It was before the final date of the package purchase but not by much. I lobbied heavily from the beginning for an answer to this question. The general population didn't really seem to care.

As Demax said the implication is that for PUG queue you could use whatever you like.

for CW matches you will need to use appropriate faction flag and mechs.

Don't worry about not being able to play all of your mechs, they would never restrict this completely because they would be shooting their own business model in the face with a shotgun.

I appreciate the input fella's! :) I must have missed the pod cast thing. So I could in theory, create a group, that is affiliated with Faction A and have all my group dropping together in Faction C's mechs as long as it is not a CW match?

I was more worried about my group than the mechs if that makes sense.

The only honest answer at this point is, "we don't know."

The original post is an even more relevant question now that we are FORCED to declare allegiance to either the Clans, or the IS during the unit creation post and the idea that we will NOT be able to change this at a later date.

Why do people have so much trouble with the concept of mech restrictions in CW?

Your mech garage is not the same as your drop compliment. If you choose to affiliate with the clans, it's safe to assume you need to re-assign your mechs for CW Clan drops.

If you later choose to affiliate with IS factions, you will need to assign IS mechs for CW IS drops.

It won't matter that you paid real money for the mechs, that they are heros or Founders or were featured on Oprah's favorite things, as of now, all CW drops are major faction restricted...the only real question is wether or not there will be inter-faction restrictions. Though I'd like to operate non-Kurita mechs as combat salvaged units, I'd wholly accept intra-faction restrictions for the Houses and Tribes...especially for intra-faction conflicts.

It's been stated we can move freely between factions and between Houses/Tribes. The penalty for such movement is the lose of faction or House/Tribe perks and loyalty points to be used toward perks.
