Try the same with an Awesome 8q 3PPC, its just bad, i fire at a mech @ 700 mts and they just side step my voleys
Well, I do think PGI made yet another mistake in terms of creating an interesting, multi-dimensional landscape in terms of weapon choices. For every mech I see with a PPC, I see 10 more with ER PPCs. And I'm not talking about Clan mechs. Instead of making the PPC a short-midrange weapon and the ER PPC a midrange-long range weapon, they've just reduced the PPC to a midrange weapon, whereas the ER PPC is still great at all ranges. So the ER PPC is just... a better PPC, as long as you can afford the extra heat.
I can't tell you how boring that is. I'd love to see more rock, paper, scissors, where players have to be smart to force the enemy into their own optimal range. But with the ER PPC, everywhere is your optimal range. You want to brawl? Fine. You want to snipe? Fine.
Wherever you engage my Warhawk with 4 ER PPCs, I'm usually game to take you on, 1 on 1. The only exception is a brawl with no cover, because as the fight goes on, my DPS is lower than a cool-running medlas-SRM build. And it shouldn't be like this. I wish the ER PPC had a minimum range and the normal PPC did not. It would be more interesting that way. Not to mention that it would reduce the viability of Gauss + ER PPC builds, which are still common, in the underhive at least.
Anyway.
At least the AWS-8Q got two weeks of not sucking balls, in the past 2 years. That's... not bad.
