Anyone Else Not Buying Mechs Until You Know What Side You'll Be On In Cw And How It Will Work?

You know, since it was announced right after Clan mechs were delivered that they wouldn't be usable by Inner Sphere pilots in Community Warfare.

Which makes sense, even if it's something I unfortunately hadn't thought about as I filled my garage with about $100 in IS hero mechs, a Phoenix Battlemaster package, and another $100 or so in Clan preorder mechs.

So I'm sort of waiting to see how it will work... will we be able to join a house and a clan and fight for whichever side our mech belongs in? Will CW even be something I want to participate in? Will there really be separate queues? If I have to choose, which side will I want to be on?

I'm not holding my breath to find out these things anytime soon, since PGI has been pretty bold in the past about selling things without saying what they are. I mean, forget bonus modules and warhorns and clan variants, it's been more than 6 months since the ingame store showed any information beyond a name and a thumbnail for the things for sale. You'd think selling things would be a top priority.

That'd be kinda pointless since I already have ~80 Mechs.

Besides, I plan to be a Merc. I'll work for whoever's paying the most.

I doubt CW will effect mech choice because of hero mechs. Lets say your faction doesn't use victors, well then pgi just sold a lot less dragon slayers.

And if/when they start with clan hero mechs, I can bet they will want to sell them to everyone not just the clan tagged players.

Definitely holding back until CW is out. Its why I affiliated with Kurita - keeping my options open in case FW/Liao don't get clan matches (because of location)

If the sales over the next 2 weeks (23rd/24th and 30th/31st) have c-bill reductions like the Steiner one did I might pick up the two SDHs I need to master them, but maybe not. I enjoyed the one I got on the Steiner sale but I'm not very effective in it. Otherwise I'm waiting, not necessarily for CW, but for a mech worth buying. The Vindicator is not it.

Most of my mechs are assaults so I'm pretty good for now. Still I'd heavily consider any faction that would allow me to buy a King Crab

I make no promises as I have poor impulse control when it comes to buying mechs.

If you buy Clan Mechs, at this point in the game's Timeline you need to be Clanners. All other players such as myself should only be buying Inner Sphere builds. YMMV

Does anyone else read some threads and then start fantasizing about what they'd do if they could buy the Mechwarrior IP ?

N.O.P.E. I bought the Anansi, Hellslinger, and I am salivating at the new Vindi hero coming out on Tuesday. I'll continue to support this game as I can by playing and buying stuff.

Maybe I could just buy IGP/PGI and have the office relocated to North Korea.

Does N.O.P.E. mean something new now?

I couldn't program my way out of a paper bag, but definitely fantasize about someone else buying it!

With real money? Not likely to buy anything for a while. Just how my finances are.

With C-Bills? I got a Kitfox, and will probably grab a clan medium, heavy, and assault at some point just to play with them. Will I be annoyed if they don't work in CW? Maybe, but I'm sure PGI will eventually offer some way to allow folks to play non-standard mechs in CW because, well, it will facilitate sales.

I don't plan on abandoning Steiner any time soon though.

Oh, I've known what side I'll be on since long before MWO came out, will never buy Clan so only have IS 'Mechs.Even now MWO probably represents only 30% of my total time spent on BattleTech in a week, rest being TT and Sarna, even if Clans were as P2W/P2C as the worst QQers said I'd still stick with IS because the Clans will forever be the bad guys.

Nope, have always been and will always be IS...

But i am not buying mechs right now due to being a student and thus money have been a bit short during the last couple of months. I did pick up a Tibby before the summer since it was a very good deal.
