"This thing is a killing machine!" - Buddhist Monk
"It has bird legs?" - Lead Designer's Daughter
Ceres Metals, Capella, 3049:
In an unprecedented show of ingenuity and brilliance, Ceres Metal has unveiled their newest product to a stunned audience. Kept secret by effective Maskirovka "persuasion", the new Battlemech promises to be an unbeatable weapons platform. During tests the 'Mech quickly and brutally crushed over 10 reinforced cardboard boxes and annihilated scores of infantry, who volunteered - completely of their own accord - to give their lives for the live fire exercise.
Combining bird and machine, the new 'Mech is unlike any ever designed. Reports of insufficient radiation shielding were later determined as unfounded and increased cases of cancer among test pilots as coincidence.
A poll carried out within the design workshop determined the name of the 'Mech, christened the Pigeon, for the impression of awe it arouses.
(I got really bored)

A plasma dump.
Can we get some weapons table specs regarding said plasma dumps, please. These may be a viable alternative to our conventional minelayers . . .

Sure, if you want to believe anything Herodotus wrote. More of a Thucydides man myself.
"We hope that you, instead of thinking to influence us by saying that you did not join the Lacedaemonians, although their colonists, or that you have done us no wrong, will aim at what is feasible, holding in view the real sentiments of us both; since you know as well as we do that right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must."
