I am using a dual core HP with windows vista, it's not exactly the best computer around but it's certainly not the worst either, I use this computer to play games technically more demanding than Mechwarrior Online. Yet whenever I try to join a game it will crash and claim that such and such number of bytes was not able to be allocated in the memory. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can fix this?

Greetings,
See here for some useful info on what the game see's happening at this crash.
(the locations may have changed with the more recent installer, but the log file will still tell your what happened to cause the crash.)
- omicron.log - This is the general purpose log of the game, one of these is generated for every play session.
- When a new play session is started, the previous log gets renamed with the date and sent to a different folder. (default path: "C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\LogBackups\")
- the current log file will reside in the base directory (default: "C:\Games\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online\")
You didn't list any specs for your vid or Ram, if it's a laptop or PC. ATI or NVidia or what your game settings are, I'll assume low settings. (and do they match the vid graphics settings?)
- As a note Vista is not a really good upgrade for XP, (too many broken things) and if there' any chance of going to Win 7 then take it. (Win 8 /8.1 seems to still have 'issues' so I might hold off for a bit longer)
- But the min specs are here:
MechWarrior Online minimum requirements:
CPU: Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66GHz / Athlon II X2 245e
GPU: GeForce 8800GT / Radeon HD 5600/5700
RAM: 4 GB
OS: Windows XP 32-bit SP3
DirectX: DX9
HDD Space: 8 GB
We're aware the game will run on some systems that are running on lower end specs but we can only offer minimal support in this situation.
The MechWarrior Online Recommended System Spec:
CPU: Core i3-2500 / AMD Athlon II X4 650
GPU:GeForce GTX 285 / Radeon HD 5830
RAM: 8 GB
OS: Windows 7 SP-1 64-Bit
DirectX: DX9
HDD Space: 8 GB
