Sorry I have to disagree. Besides giving separate scores for each weight class the MWO Elo system only takes wins and losses into account when determining your score.

...which is the biggest failure of all where there are 11 other guys on your team and you can count on 1/3 of them being mouth breathing dreps that think LRMs are OP.

Yeah, OP ... we know. We kind of suffer through it all. :P

Sug (Sorry I have to disagree. Besides giving separate scores for each weight class the MWO Elo system only takes wins and losses into account when determining your score.)

The player base has become so small Don't even think the MM does that anymore it just picks 24 random players and throws them all into a match.

P.S Russ-Brain post the true player count from opening of closed beta until now week by week month by month prove me wrong that the player base for MWO is not dying.

Im assuming a graph of the player base of MWO would look like this from the start of the game until now.

That is because they don't have CLOSE to the population to support hard:
a) elo banding
:P class matching (and even if they did we used to game the HELL out of that one)
c ) weight limits
d) group, solo, and mode, specific play.

I'm not waiting 20 minutes to pay a 7 minute game.

Yeah that is pretty true. Waiting 20 minutes to play a 7 minute game is pretty awful. Still though, would there be enough players to balance things out if the above issues weren't a thing?

Also going to bed, forum mods please don't delete this thread. I really want to know what peeps have to say when I get up.

No PGI chased them off already.

Just from when I stopped playing until the clan release I noticed the difference. You have the diehard/try hards, the IP fan boys and a few poor ******** who are trying it out.

No one "trying it out" is staying.

This is why PGI refuses to post, note, or mention concurrent player counts, it would cast a bad light.

Honestly I am a huge fan of stompy robots, not just mechwarrior. I have other "just a fan of stompy robots" options, example: Hawken (slightly less stompy, more fast but still giant robots). I will say the very core of this game is great to me, it's just everything else like matchmaking, elo system(s), and lack of new user friendliness is really bumming me out. Just when I thought the game was getting great, it got really bad really fast.

The game survives despite PGI, not because of it. Its actually scary.

I was told many times already, and this is rude and I don't wanna be too rude but; this is all there is for mechwarrior right now, it is played because it is the only thing fans of mechwarrior have other than games made 10 years ago.

Nothing has really improved over here or hawken for the past year. Both games are kinda fading from existence, carried by a few hardcore users with thousands of hours logged.

Amen brother Its just the fact PGI made World Of Mechs cloned from World Of Tanks and Most MechWarrior-TT-BT fans and players were expecting a true BT-MechWarrior game like the old MPBT3025 or MechWarrio2-MechWarrior4.If the IP fails and there studio fails it will be because they failed to listen to there players and fans .

Plus the fact MWO should have been a cash cow like World Of Warcraft was that sustained the studios growth and payrolls. I believe very few staff are really working still on MWO because they blew all the early revenue on other ventures.

Yeah, and their goodwill capital is gone. I don't give a crap if its rude.

I may be rude, but its the plain truth.

It's actually heavily modified. It takes things like your accuracy (and a few other things I can't remember) in to account, and although it uses an average ELO for team balancing, your ELO changes based on whether the matchmaker predicted you were likely to win or not which can help balance things out.

That first bit isn't true. Your individual stats - such as accuracy or KDR - have absolutely no effect on your Elo score. The only things that matters for Elo are:
A, Whether you win or lose a match
B. Whether you were predicted to win or lose that match

And the bit about predicting whether you're going to win or not, and that having an effect on your Elo, is a function of the original Elo formula. That's pretty much the core of the entire system.

Which is a bad idea in a MULTI-PLAYER game. Whether I win or lose is highly dependent on the other 11 guys I'm paired with.

PGI needs to go out of business so someone else can pick up the IP.

If PGI fails then I am afraid that every future potential investor would be too skittish to ever fund another mechwarrior title. Not even kickstarter would help. Then we will have another mechwarrior dark age, longer than the last.

So no loss, since I can't make myself play this anymore.

PGI has made a flat out mockery of this game. Its like world of tank.....but worse....with more compicated systems and worse developers.

OP: And now you know why I've only spent 60 bucks on this game. I still believe in the value of money. Hell, it is what I do for a living.

Back at the begging of Closed beta many of us tried to alter the course of MWO and its Multiplayer system telling the Devs MWO was to shallow a game and the ELO-MM-FREEFORALL system was a mistake and they should go back to the older PC MechWarrior games Multiplayer system.

Of course we were ridiculed and laughed at by staff and COD players and anyone that disagreed with PGI'S plans for MWO.I have seen the results of building a quick money grab type game like MWO is.70-90% of the fan base and older PC MechWarrior players have bailed the game due to its grinder monotonous game style.

MWO needs a new MSN Gamming Zone built just for MWO so the community can be involved build fun leagues and rebound from the MESS PGI has made of MWO overall. The first step would be to bring back the same Matchmaker structure for group play we had in MechWarrior2- MechWarrior4.

Yep. The Founder's, the guys that gave PGI over 5 million of their money sight unseen because we were super excited about a new Mechwarrrior game, after a time were told we were not the demographic that they were designing the game for any longer and that we were all on an island where no one else lived so therefore, PGI was going to no longer listen to us (or any of its beta community) about how the game should be designed.

Needless to say things went all down hill from there.

Honestly, MWO is a huge enigma for me. Never have a hated a developer more than I do PGI yet for some odd reason I keep playing and giving them money. Honestly the core game is fun and the long term potential could be great so I think that is what keeps me around, that and I figure that the law of averages will catch up with PGI and will actually get something right. I mean they have pretty much screwed everything else up so they have to do something right at some point don't they??

As long as you are not here to only "watch the world burn" then I have no problems with your views. Just do not try to ruin my good time because of your revenge complex on pgi. Believe it or not, many people enjoy MWO.

Yeah, I wish they would post numbers to prove that.

I bet they can't
