Just trying to get some idea's going about an Orion build. I just picked this mech up today and ran it a couple times - some times with and AC10 and sometimes with an AC20. I haven't paid the Endo and Double Heat sink tax yet, but I know I liked the AC20 version more, its a better bully with that thing. Going with that, I have prototyped this build in Smurfy
http://mwo.smurfy-ne...757c8359428bc75
Noticed it had SRM6 quirks so upped the SRM4's to SRM6's, have an AC20 with a good bit of ammo (well 17 rounds) and 200 rounds of SRM ammo to boot to. Medium lasers round out the build with something to poke with.
now I could also build it as a pure SRM brawler -

Now having dual SRM6 in each arm, and 450 rounds of spare ammo going at 72 KPH, this thing is meant to get close and shred its opponents with its missile's - Add in SRM6 Range module and Cooldown, and get a pretty decent fire rate.
any one have other ideas? or critiques of how to run this 'Mech?

it used to be the best heavy LRM mech in the game. Now... pffft. the LRM5 and perks going the wrong way ended that.

I've been running Orions for a long time and it's a very good multitask mech. ON1-VA also was my first Orion. So in a time 2 builds have worked very good for me.
ON1-VA multitask
ON1-VA cqb
Small note - XL engines works very good for me on Orions. Have been trying a CQB loadout with x2 meds, LB-10X and x4 SRM6+A - haven't worked for me very good. Much better results with my current CQB build. If you want an advice - low mounted arms, have to get used to. Also - follow assault guys. As I said - Orion is a great multitask mech, it can give a good support in any range.

ON-1V with x2LL's and 3 LRM15+A worked much better

If you're going for SRM's and AC's, you have to go all the way. Unfortunately, whoever responsible for quirking this 'Mech obviously hasn't touched an Orion before, therefore giving it AC20 and SRM6 bonuses. The two weapon systems it can barely mount together.
There's no feasible way of running AC20+4xSRM6 together. You either need to drop SRMs or the AC20 for quad ASRM6'es. Do either and it's a terrible 'Mech. Comprimising on the AC is not a good idea because, single AC10 is just bad on big 'Mechs. Quad SRM's suck because you're basically relying on your chances of getting a jump on your opponents or a massive close-range brawl. These are not guaranteed to happen. You definitely need your AC to be useful during stand-offs.
Honestly I'd just run this with an AC20+4xSRM4's for the time being. It'll still be bad though. The only redemption for this 'Mech is mounting 4xALRM10 or 2xALRM10+2xALRM15 with an XL and bringing the lurmageddon. It's effective but extremely boring a the same time.
Apparently they're going to redo the quirks of the Orions (because they're a mess). It's a good idea to leave this bad boy alone until then. If you must brawl with AC20+ASRM6'es and want the quirks, the Protector is an absolute beast at that right now. Or you can go for the K (which is arguably a better brawler, but without quirks).
