Noticed over several matches that direct hits on flying TBRs do no damage and crosshair does not illuminate red, even with long-burn wpns like Large Laser

Just saw it happen again on Alpine 5 mins ago. CT burn with 2 large lasers, no damage registered.

After PGI fixes it i will necrobump this link for some "pics or it didn't happen" nostalgia.

given the amount of in game desync, i'm willing to bet it's the servers. either that, or people are really crappy shots

Well it certainly could be desync as hit detection on JJ mechs in general is pretty pants. But as far as "crappy shots", if the crosshair is on the target and laser is firing, is there some ALT key you have to hold down to enable hit detection?

Lasers/MG's/Flamers use HITSCAN, which has been a problem for a long time.

Ballistics/PPC's/SRM/LRM use HostState rewind which is marginally better.

Hitscan weapons have always had big problems registering damage for some reason in MWO.

Since the Highpoly model you see, and the actual hitbox are separated thanks to Interpolation on positional data recieved and being sent, the engine gets confused?

Correct me if I'm wrong here.

Try leading your target a little more in the direction he's traveling if you're using lasers.

Use SRM/LBX/AC... due awkward hitreg of lazors.

this happens to some extent with every mech because of server side hitreg (happens to non-jumping mechs too, but jumpers move faster and less predictably)

it's not any worse for twolves than any other mech though

Having a lot of games in TWs I can say they can and do get hit when in the air.
