So, I'm not new, but I need help. What's the deal with alternate accounts? Are they allowed or not?

I've often seen people freely mentioning their alt accounts off-handedly on the forums in high-traffic threads, so I don't imagine there's anything wrong with it. Not like there's any meaningful advantage to be gained from it, only padding of stats that noone much cares about anyway, so I don't see why there would be a problem with it.

It would amuse me. I wouldn't make fake conversations or bump my own threads, but it'd be amusing at times.

Nothing in the ToU stating more than one account is against the rules... but I would caution the "shenanigans" while using an "alt"...

Relax. It wouldn't be anything that violates the ToU or CoC. It'd just be funny stuff and/or trying to confuse people and/or being able to have an account that is an enemy of my current account.

The terms of use forbid using multiple accounts on the forum, specifically for trolling, sockpuppeting, polls, etc. Nothing in it forbids you from playing the game with multiple accounts, so sure, go nuts.

Some people use an alternate account for characters on different sides. Ex: IS vs Clan

I think it encourages role play.

Heck, Russ has an alt account he said he played with recently on Twitter.

They have never said alt accounts are forbidden in anyway except if you use them to cause trouble.

You are permitted to have alt accounts, but be aware that if you break forum rules on an alt thinking your 'primary' account is safe, that would be a mistake.

As long as you respect and follow all the rules, and don't cause problems you should be just fine.

I have 2 account's one for Clan Mechs this one and anther one for IS mechs......I wanted to keep them separated....

I know some people have an Inner Sphere account and a seperate Clan account.

I have one for introducing people to the game, I can't really do that with my regular account if I want them to actually have a chance at winning a match.

All u need to do is make a new email addy. then come back an here an make a new MWO account.

I my self have an alt account that im using to slowly buy clan mechs. 4 free mech bays for a kitfox, nova, timb n dire.

Alt accounts r also good for showing your friends the game an letting them play on it, cause no way in hell your gettin my main acct info lol

Yea, i could see getting an alt account for friends that come over your house, maybe get a couple mechs for it or what ever.. But as far as 2 separate accounts for clanner and IS? Unless all those modules are completely different I'd hate to regrind that stuff. I have been playing this game over a year, and still have more stuff to unlock with GXP, i could not imagine spending another year and half doing that again
