It means you killed somebody on your team.

The 10,000 cbills lost is a fine for your dastardly slaughter of friendlies.

To be clear, if you hit a friendly mech you WILL cause FULL damage to them. This includes arty/air strikes. Many people are not aware of this mechanic. So be just as aware of the blue triangles when shooting. Sometimes accidents happen, but simply checking the location of friendlies can greatly reduce these accidents. This advice applies to moving as well. Try not to jump out in front of a friendly, he may not see you around a building and he won't be able to call back a shot once it's in the air.

Last blow, just like regular kills.

if you cause the damage that finishes off a mech, you are awarded the kill (or teamkill if it is a friendly). I have seen end or round screenshots showing 0 damage and a kill (meaning a small portion or a laser beam or less than 12 machine gun bullets, or possibly a collision).

Teamkills are such a pain, especially when there is nothing you can do about it happening, but it is even worse when you could have done something (for instance I dropped an air strike today that completely missed the intended target and obliterated my only surviving ally, which cost us the game).
After all, as they say, friendly fire is not. :)
