At the login screen, typed in password, spinny connecting icon just spins endlessly without moving out of the login screen

Wow, restarting my computer fixed it, that never works for anything heh.

I tried to restart and it did not help. any advice?

Run the repair tool at first. Every time they release a patch the game files got corrupted - so I used to do this. Sometimes the whole game is unable to start, so I have to run the repair tool again and again. Of course the Objects.pak is always damaged, so I have to download it multiple times...I don't really understand if it's a compressed file why can't they split an 1 Gb file to smaller pieces or put a recovery record into the archive.

Also, if you are still stuck, google how to set up your machine with public Google DNS server, that was a fix a long time ago for something.... Give it a try though
