Even if it isn'tSilver, There is HOURS If not DAYS that are hand wavium between hitting the launch button. I just will puke if there is On field Instant repairs of internal damage ammo reloads et al.

I puked when they added consumables, but at least if repair bays are tied to a game mode you wouldn't have to deal with them unlike consumables which are more arcade like than repair bays ever were (considering they could be destructible, meaning if you don't like them, destroy them).

Nah. We can't have anything that might make match times go longer than 5-8 minutes. It wouldn't be a thinking man's game anymore.

I have used 3 Coolant pods, One UAV, and Now one Arty... and I missed everything in the attempt LOL. So Consumables and me don't work together well.

Lord I hope not. I don't want a Mechwash where we drive through and come out shiny and new. Now having a destructible base or stock pile to defend I can get behind. And I stink at defense! :P

Also, the first thing I thought of when I read this was DROP ARTY ON THE REPAIR BAY! MUWAHHAHAHAHAHAHA THERE GOES YOUR NEW PAINT JOB!

I was actually thinking about this yesterday... though more from a 1 sided setup.

A 30 minute timed game mode, of attack/defend. Defenders are say, 2 lances or 1 star... depending on if Clan or IS. attacking team is a full company[3 lances]/ binary[2stars].

This means, no matter what, the defenders are outgunned. Defenders however, have the chance to fall back and repair at a designated spot, repairs take one minute to complete, and are not complete repairs [though blown off arms/weapons have a chance of getting repaired should a suitable replacement be stocked within their mechbay.] Attackers however, have 1 life. and must try to push past the defenses to capture the base/mech production facility/ hpg uplink/ you name it.

It would be a fairly interesting gametype, could take some tweaking... but I think there's potential... maybe work it into the dropship mode... but it would work well to simulate Mercernary/House garrison duty.

I think a long game mode is rquired for Mechwarrior. I feel the current game modes just too fast and arcady.

New game modes are certainly needed, where the heck is our dropship mode that would be nice at least.

We should have massive maps, complete with scattered neutral fire bases, outposts and other various objectives.

Each team starts in a Mech base, kinda like MWLL, I remember the short time I played, it kinda felt a lil epic driving the mech out the hangar for the first time....

But yeah.

Each team starts in a mech base, a large hangar, a large courtyard, some spawn inside, others outside. This base is surrounded by large fortified walls, turrets and the like. There are A-E points on the map, each signifying the Base Turret Control building within each base. Light mechs being essential for an early advantage and because they should be the only ones who can cap the base. Mediums can also cap, but at a reduced rate. Heavy and Assault, are meant to Heavily Assault the base once its capped or in defense. Each of the team's home bases has a repairbay, each of the hangars, there would be like 4.

And basically, each side fights over the bases until the tickets run dry or the match just ends. I guess battlefield Mechwarrior lol.

IDK, but Battlefield has gameplay that just works. Ofc, I think the respawning would be based on your own garage, idk. Matches would be concocted based on the size of each player's garage, so a newb with 1 mech wouldnt go agains a vet with 120....

Battle timers would be 45minutes.

but idk.

I think having repair bays would only encourage base camping, and people fully abandoning combat if they so much as get scratched.

I would agree to a repair or reload if it included the following:
  • If a mech is in a repair bay and getting shot damage gets applied to its structure and components meaning it gains no protection from its armor. Think of it as the mech is wide open with people fiddling with its internals.
  • Repair bays have a limited amount of repair and rearming that they can do.
  • The bigger the mech the more time it has to spend in the bay getting adjusted.

I bet we'll see something like that if we ever see an extended siege type game mode

I cant remember where I read it but the idea of a siege/raid/dropship type mode was already slapped down by Russ. It was a possible twitter post or something in these forums. But the idea of having anything really fun like this in game has already been blasted.

Maybe someone else can find it but he did knock it down.

Regards
