I equipped a targeting computer to a mech with C-ERPPCs equipped and the range it told me they had was the same (810 meters). Are they not supposed to affect PPCs, or is this just a display glitch in the game and they actually work?

This says "beam weapons" and not just lasers soooo...

A PPC is not a Beam weapon, its a energie weapon yes, but it does not project a beam.

It's actually a projectile weapon that is short of the accompanying range increase module. The projectile speed is increased by the TC but I doubt anyone will be impressed by that after the recent PPC speed reduction.

If you hover over any part in the mechlab, it pops up an information pane. The TCs make lasers go farther, make AC projectiles go faster, help with targeting info and sensor range, increase the maximum zoom, and increase the chances of scoring a critical hit.

Well, thanks for the info!

Targeting Computers have no effect on PPCs and Gauss.

Hover over them to make a description pop-up. Should say so in the wording.

PPCs are actually energy-based ballistic weapons.

However, they do not seem to count under targeting computers. Which I find hilariously funny when you consider that the Adder Prime comes with 2 ER PPCs, a Flamer, and a Mark III Targeting Computer.

What's it supposed to enhance, the flamer?

The sensor range and target info. Still more effective than the IS Command Console on a stock Atlas DDC prior to July 2014.

You're talking about the same people who just released a champion mech with CASE and an XL engine. And there they didn't even have the defense of "lore." So...reasons? Thought you knew better, Kon. :/

Targeting info, sensor range, zoom. Also, PPC projectile speed (yes, the speed applies, not the range).

It's actually a good idea if they do, indeed, plan to reinstate repair and rearm.
Seriously it is.
Of course if they don't then it was completely pointless. Unless there's some kind of CASE buff coming.

See speed is what I figured, but they were saying it isn't applying.
I personally don't bother with the targeting computers though, they're the reason the nerfs have been happening.

Take long range weapons, add range for a computer...and suddenly Clan ER LLs get nonsensical nerfs due to firing beyond 1,050 meters for full damage. It's not the laser's fault, it's the targeting computer's fault.
Aside from info, data, etc., the only thing a targeting computer should be speeding up is this.
Spoiler

We'd stop having nonsense balancing decisions then.
Sigh.

PFFFFT! Bwahahaha.... NO!

There'd always be some nonsense thing to tinker with.
