Hi Devs...

Any of my mechs that had both airstikes and artillery loaded on the before the patch can still load both AND they auto-refill.

Might want to look into that!

And you might want to look out that this subject has already been covered before starting new topic.

Abusing this bug is an exploit and as such a bannable offense.

Need some input from a dev as to whether or not this is a bug.

Why do you need a developer input on this?

It says in the latest patchnotes that you may now only use one or the other.

Quote

Gameplay
  • Module changes
  • Players must now choose between Air Strikes and Artillery Strikes.
  • A 'Mech cannot equip both Air Strikes and Artillery Strikes.
  • A 'Mech can only equip one Air Strike or one Artillery Strike
You can use both, so it must be a bug.
If you remove one and try to remount it, you wont be able to. Another clear hint that it is indeed a bug.

What's unclear about this situation?

What's unclear is folks are calling it a bug when it may not be. There's no action anyone can take to equip both modules in the game. In fact you are prevented from doing so when you try. There's no warning that there's an invalid configuration for those that don't bother to remove one.

We can infer all we like about it, but no where did is say that If you have both equipped already you MUST remove one. The wording in the patch notes indicate that you "must choose" and "cannot equip". Both of those phrases imply action taken. Not a situation already in place.

So we have either an omission by the dev team because they didn't strip all the modules like they did a few patches ago when the module system changed, or indifference because it's really not an issue.

What you are trying there, is the creation of a very weird kind of logic to keep an advantage, that by the wording of the patch notes should no longer be available. Something that is no longer available to everyone, should not be available to anyone, unless explictly stated. You are attempting to make an oversight in the implementation into an excuse to use an exploit. And from the wording of the patch notes, there is no mistake that there was no intent, that some user may keep that advantage for them.

Answer me these question (both of them, please):
If it were no issue, why would it have been implemented in the first place?
Why should those, who discover a bug, be allowed to abuse it to their advantage?

But ... the developers did not properly implement this patch. We're asking for a hotfix ... in an oddly roundabout way, Ego. As was said before ... very few read the patch notes. Even fewer come here to read the forums. So most will continue until the module is forcibly removed. Creating an unfair advantage ... but I wouldn't call it an exploit. I would call it ignorance on the part of the developer.

This is something that should have been caught in basic testing.

Asking for a hotfix would be fine. But that's not what I'm seeing in the posts that question the illegality to abuse the bug.

And it is very clear that it is a bug and one that brings an advantage. To me that looks like the very definition of an exploit. And using exploits is against the rules. You can not possibly argue that, can you?

You know what this reminds me of?

Obama standing up ... and saying "I will not enforce immigration laws" ...

And then blaming Congress for failing to act on immigration reform.

Ok... you want to defend your exploit! I will not give you a stage for this!

Closing this thread as well! I advise you strongly to not advertise the usage of this bug any further, should another thread about it pop up.
