I present to you the new meta. With teamwork and focused fire, you too can be a DireLance. Over several dozen games, this resulted in our entire lance pushing 700+ damage on average and usually getting at least half the kills if not more.

Requirements:
1-3 of each
-Direwolf
-Timber Wolf

Direwolfs (never built one and do not own a Direwolf, you're on your own here)
-6CUAC5
-10 tons CUAC5 ammo

Timber Wolfs
-2CERML
-3CUAC5
-5 tons CUAC5 ammo

I used the Timber Prime but you can easily use any of the other variants as it does not use the CT for anything specifically. Recommended to use the prime right torso to avoid a second torso movement penalty from the S torso.

The name originated from a 2 Direwolf, 2 Timber Wolf lance. Hence the DireLance. If you'd like to use 5 and make it a DireStar go ahead.

I've never seen a Timber run 3 CUAC5, 2 yes, but not 3.

Well, I was channeling my inner The Who there, but the quote is true. Delivery systems ( mechs) may change, but the meta is always the same. High alpha pinpoint damage.

That would explain the ERMed lasers and burst fire UAC/5's... wait a sec.....

CUAC are hardly pinpoint with their multi-shot bursts. However chain firing them (not clicking, just click and hold) does create a machine gun effect that is quite funny.

Better is 2xuac5 and 4xcermls, plus extra dhs and tc3 or 4. Better range, accuracy and longevity. 3x uac5 uses what little ammo it can carry too quickly.

Otherwise the uac5 Disintigration Ray works well.

Clan meta is in a state of flux. They are trying everything to achieve a high alpha pinpoint affect. It was PPC/Gauss. Also cramming as many A/Cs as possible on a mech seems popular. Still say many people want the high alpha pinpoint damage and will do whatever they can to get close to that.

The DireLance comes from the fact that we started calling this Timby build the Mini Direwolf.

Just load up with PPC's and Gauss, and then anything that comes into visual range of 2 or more of them will die instantly.

Erm, well, it won't be instantly, since it might take a second or two for the PPCs to get there.

A lance of clan heavies and assaults averaging 700 damage is not a big deal. No new meta here.

There's something to be said for reducing two of the UAC/5 to UAC/2 on those Dire Wolves. It shaves a little off the ghost heat, gives you a bit of extra tonnage, and the desynced fire rates give you a bit more pressure on the opponents.

I use 2/2 with two ERPPCs on my current Prime build (and thinking of dropping the six backup ERSL for some more ammo, not sure yet though.)

Maybe he meant each mech in the lance was doing 700+ damage.

Just to tell you...

You will run out of ammo on both those builds before the match is half way over...leaving you with only backup weapons.

You need to drop at least 1 CUAC from each build...if not 2 on the DW.

I also said on average. The Direwolfs had higher damage output averaging around 900-1000 per match while the timberwolfs were about 700 due to their mobility and finishing off targets that attempted to flee. Low end matches ended up with Timbers around 500s and Dire's around 700s. Though that also tended to be because our team was actually dealing some damage as well and everything was just dead so we couldn't put out any more damage.

The heat on 3CUAC5 is negligible and you probably won't be firing long enough to really build the heat as 18 CUAC5s (assuming a lance of 2 and 2) practically melt even assaults. Lights are the only real problem but with the added CERML from the Timbers they chew up pretty nice with some concentrated fire.

You're assuming individual piloting drops or uncoordinated efforts. A mech takes a fraction of the ammo from each DireLance member. Only on 1-2 matches out of a few dozen did any of us run out of ammo (1 timber and 1 dire each match). Otherwise the enemies fall so quickly that ammo expenditure hasn't been an issue. You can do 6 tons of ammo on the Timber if it suits you.
