So with the roll-out of the Vindicator (nice job, PGI - it has me debating it, and I'd typically rather scrub myself with a cheese-grater than buy a Liao mech), what's next?

The Flea is still sitting out there, awaiting the implementation of the MASC, but that one's probably a ways off.

I know the King Crab is on the radar, but I think it's still a ways out (probably part of a Clanbuster pack).

Grasshopper? Seems like it's most likely, but who can say.

So far, the count of mechs looks like this:

Lights: 6
Mediums: 10
Heavies: 7
Assaults: 7

That seems to suggest the next would be a Light.

What think you, dear reader?

I really think IS could use a dual gauss assault to deal with clan.

Though, I honestly don't know what heavy IS can get to even up with timberwolf. A 75 ton jumpjet heavy?

The Zeus should be the only answer here.

Any 55 tonner that moves 110 KPH and has JJ can do this...

I think the Mauler will be up pretty soon. I don't know about "next" but soon. It has the dual AC20/Guass ability that the IS needs right now.

I think they'll save the King Crab for a "Clan Buster" pack later on this year.

Apart from the Flea, every mech we've heard rumoured (i.e. King Crab, Mauler) has been heavy. Not many mechs in the lower ranges people are really crying out for (see this thread) so my guess is we'll see a heavy or assault. Who knows, it might actually be a decent mech, too.

There is only one Heavy IS mech during the invasion that can even up to the T-Wolf. And that mech is...

firestarter > vindicator > heavy mech

but i think at this point they'v thrown out the light>medium>heavy>assault thing...

so the one that i've been hearing the most about from PGI besides the vindicator is the mauler. Mauler is really the only mech ivv head ANYTHINGN about besides vindicator.

Oh, man - right?? I'd love to have my Steiner Zeus to stomp around in, but I think the Grasshopper is the more likely heavy to drop.

As for the Mauler...would be interesting. Definitely a heavy-hitter to deal with the Clan mechs, but then again, all those guns are low-slung in a barn-sized torso. Not sure it will hold up to the withering fire the TBR and Direwhale can bring to the table.

I like my T-bolts against them. It's obviously not 1-to-1, nor should it be, but the T-bolt is a pretty tough mech with a STD engine.

As for mechs I WANT to see, but probably won't (at least for a while):

Urbanmech
Hatchetman
Zeus
Cyclops
King Crab

Will assume that it will be a light mech. The list for light mech is thinning out a bit.

Possible candidates include:

Mercury
Thorn
Hornet
Mongoose
Hermes
Hussar
Javelin
Urban-mech (Fan Popular mech)
Hollander
Ostscout
Panther
Wolfhound (Experimental version unlikely do to the 3049 rollback.)

Short list:
Javelin (Light missile boat)
Hermes (speedy jack of all trades ECM capable 3049 version)
Panther (beefy light tank)
Hollander (long range suppression sniper)
Ostscout (Fast recon utility tool.)

All of these on the short list fill gaps in the light mech field.

My choice:
Javelin or Panther

I'm expecting a Heavy or an Assault. What I want to see is a Warhammer, personally, but I think more likely is a Zeus. Mauler could happen too, but I'm not expecting that until we already have, at the very least, the Dire Wolf out.

Mercury and Hermes are out because they're both MASC mechs, right?

Panther would be a good bet - they seem to be releasing more faction-specific mechs.

Warhammer's out - Harmony Gold owns the rights. Same with the Archer, Longbow, Marauder, and Pheonix Hawk. A few others who are slipping my mind at the moment.

Isn't the Mauler the only confirmed and unreleased IS mech at the moment?

*sighs* I too would like the other most iconic mech in all of mechwarrior to appear (Warhammer). But... alas... it is one of the unseen and until Harmony Gold up and dies it will never happen <_<

I would love to see the Zues or the Panther TBH. Those where my go to mechs in TT so I have a small soft spot for them. I would also be happy with the Urbie. <_<

Well, that sucks.

I have a hard time thinking of other Heavies the IS might field. I mean we all expect the Mad Dog and Hellbringer (personal favourite) to appear, but I can't think of too many must-have IS mechs that are around in 3050.
