The stalker's sidetorsos do not have missile doors, and the arms take so little damage on average that it''s inconsequential, you'll almost always lose the arms when the sidetorsos go, almost never before.

True, but a Misery will lose the arms before the side torsos. And if you use your arms to your advantage (to take shots for you), it does make a bit of a difference.

That's dependent on the build, mine is more burst DOT/DPS based so torso twisting doesn't do me any good. I do strafe when I can to spread the damage more horizontally, but even then you rarely lose the arms.

Very true. But here comes a damage over time/DPS build that, well, no one can really compete with.

In your opinion, for a newer player, would a Direwolf be a bad choice or a good one? (I'm not really sure what good structure or armor types do atm, either)

Edit: A build I pieced together for a Direwolf Prime, if I ever get my hands on one.

If you want a Direwolf with Lasers, Lrms but still viable and good for PuG-Matches:

http://mwo.smurfy-ne...da7d14883671c9f

4x C-ErMedLaser / 2x C-Gauss Rifle / 2x C-Lrm20

50shots ammo for the Gauss, 1260 Missiles and 4 Medlaser.

And if u want to play more competitive, here's my current Dwf-Prime (627Matches, 1710kills, 296deaths...).:

I would not recommend the Direwolf to new players for the same reason I would not recommend an Atlas.

Yes they are absolutely murderous if they can catch a target in the open but they are also very unforgiving of mistakes. Direwolves are very slow, rather squishy, and will be focused down quickly if caught alone.

I generally recommend Mechs have a bit more mobility and ability to spread damage for newer players.

lolno

Any pilot worth their salt will blow up a Stalker's torso instead of going for the arms, every time. In fact, arms are where you get that half ton or more if in need.

Yes, absolutely this. A heavy or a 55 tonner or a Centurion are great for this, a good mix of attributes and more forgiving of positioning errors than a 56 kph Assault.

Dire Wolves need to be in the right place at the right time, know which parts of the map they can move through, and where to expect enemies and how to guard their CT to rule in a Dire Wolf

Dire Wolf has been released for MC, which means we can determine their C-Bill costs.

Direwolf Prime will be about 17790000. Direwolf A will be about 17150000. Direwolf B will be about 17850000. So for all three chassis will cost just under 53 million C-Bills, not counting Omni-Pods, extra weapons and equipment, etc. Each Dire Wolf, if bought with MC, will cost over $30, so if you want to get them with real money, either get the Dire Wolf tier Clan Package or the standalone Dire Wolf Clan Package. Over $90 for three chassis as opposed to $55 for the same three mechs or $120 for those three, plus nine more mechs and sixty days premium time (roughly $20 value). So if you don't want to grind for all of them, either buy them in a package now, while you can.

Now if you'll excuse me, I've got 40 million C-Bills to earn.

Intentionally, yes. But hit a moving Stalker along the side or with streaks, and those arms will go first.
I'm telling you as someone who loses the arms first.

Yes, spread damage weapons will do that. Anyone who aims will reliably take the torso every single time.
