Did you check for UAV's? I'm sure no one did. No one ever does.

I actually sent a ticket to support about this issue.
On two separate occasions this one lone player in an Awesome seemed to be able to target either me or people under cover of my ECM. What made this stand out was a couple things.
First, he was alone and isolated. None of his team anywhere. Second, I had him targeted and he wasn't equipped with either a Tag or a NARC. Third, unless you can equip 2 UAVs, he couldn't have been using a UAV since the two separate occasions happened about 2 mins apart.
The first time we saw him he was about 500m out. I was standing 50m away from a teammate providing him ECM cover when all of a sudden I saw the Awesome launch LRMs at my teammate and they zeroed in on him just like he had a lock. I was like "WTF!!!" so I immediately looked for the ECM icon on my teammate to make sure my ECM was working. Yep it was fine. Also no TAG beams floating around and no NARC icon showing that he was lit up either. I then look up to trying to find an UAV....nope, I don't see one.
Anyway I end up dismissing it mostly because he got shot up and retreated and I was now concentrating on rushing forward to see if I could finish him off. In any case, I JJ up a little ridge, round the corner and there he is, 100m away and not quite a hurt as I thought so I start back peddling especially since I really wanted to stay far enough away that ECM was concealing me and making a bit tougher target. Anyway, as I said, I am backpeddling like mad, right over that ridge I originally jumped up and out of his line of sight and safe or so I thought. All of a Sudden LRMs arc up from where he was and smack me hard. I was like, "What dumb fricken luck, he must have panic fired in my general location just as I went over the ridge and the LRMs landed where I happened to be." Well now I am hurt but still alive and I am out of line of sight obviously at least 180m away and far enough back that even if he gets LOS on me again, he won't be able to target me with LRMs again due to my active and working ECM, plus I have moved so no more dumb luck shots. Then about 2-3 seconds later a second swarm of LRMs comes over the ridge from where he was standing and zeros right in on me...BOOM...I am dead and the message that this Awesome who somehow can magically target right though ECM had killed me.
So yeah people can try to explain this away all day long but I am sorry, something obviously wasn't right about this situation.

At shorter distances, you they still lock on to you and your teammates especially if they have shot at you. The only difference will be it takes longer to lock on, but once its locked on they can make it rain.

didn't think a target lock was possible without a LOS on a ECM mech, I thought the 180m ECM bubble should stop any mech from targeting you anyway?. dang don't remember it working like this in MW4.

When a Mech is hidden by a friendly ECM:
- Enemy Mechs will have to come within 1/4 the normal distance (200 m instead of 800 m, by default) for hidden Mechs to show up on their battlegrid and HUD.
- The Beagle Active Probe will extend this range.
- It takes twice as long to achieve a missile lock against a hidden Mech.
Was this AWS within 200m of you?

The awesome could have been stacking sensor range buffs:
200m base range for ECM mech detection.
+50m (+25% module)
+50m (+25% BAP)
+12m (+6% Command console)
= 312m sensor range against ECM
= 1248m against everyone else
